Are you implying that I'm implying?
All of those people are exactly the same as me.
Brave? According you your train of thought, I'm crazy and anything BUT brave. Because I'm AFRAID of a gun, right?
SV - how do you like the ncstar so far? I've heard mixed reviews about their products.. but then again I hear that about almost all products. I've also read that red and even green lasers are problematic in cold environments. I may buy a few different kinds once I get there to test them out this winter.
I bought an NC star green laser thingy for my G30 because it was cheap.
Calibrated it, it was off by a bit at 25, by a lot at 50.
Seemed to work much better on my Colt Rail Gun, because steel frames don't flex as much.
Can see it in bright sunlight, not sure why you'd want to, but you can.
Sorry, I should clarify - I wouldn't opt for a laser on a handgun personally (in fact none of mine have one). I would likely only keep them on one of the ARs. But in this case it's a light/laser combo so I figured I would ask.
I am pretty good with a pistol so I don't need a laser. My wife on the other hand isn't that great. I want her to be able to put the dot on the target and pull the trigger. I do however want a light to blind the person I'm aiming at to give me that second or two advantage.

The only reason you feel safe every day is because of numbers. More people means you are less likely to be singled out and that there are more witnesses in case something does go down. I bet you lay low on those commutes too. I bet you don't interact with 99% of the people you "see". That doesn't make you special and it doesn't make you safe. You are living an illusion. It's nice and quiet until the one time you catch the wrong persons eye or just end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Violence happens everywhere... just flip on the news and you will see your crappy state and its high profile neighbor are no exception.
The only question you need to ask yourself is this -When the time comes, would I rather have the necessary tools and a fighting chance to defend my life and the lives of those around me or would I rather cower behind something or run and just hope the attacker doesn't see me and wasn't specifically after me. It's okay to be the latter, just don't expect that from me.
I'm the meantime save your fake statistics and ill-conceived theories for your fellow gun fearing statesmen. It's even more amusing that you admit they are out of your ass but continue to defend them as if they are still somehow valid. That crap doesn't fly here and you should have learned that by now, unless you enjoy getting called out.
Yup, exactly. A bright multi strobe flashlight is the ticket imo. You gotta take the wife out shooting more! It's hard to get my better half out there but when she goes she does have a lot of fun and has become quite accurate with her Sigma. That reminds me... I need to order her a light.
"Hey bud, I gotta laugh because i somehow fear little and yet take public transport to midtown Manhattan for 3 hours daily among more races, creeds, and colors on one subway car than you'll see in a month."
OK, so what was the point you were trying to make?
:welcome:
If sleeping is laying low, then yes. I lay low. I don't say good morning to everyone I see. That would likely get me "that weird guy" arrested. Commutes are for quiet - you violate that then you WILL need a gun.
I don't need to ask myself any questions. If someone pulls out an AR15 or whatever there will be just as many people running towards him as away from him.
My ill-conceived theory was embraced by some of your buddies here and basically described by others in this thread in earlier posts. It was just a "for instance". Lighten up.
I'm just here to step in your line and keep you from constantly praising and slapping yourselves on the back. Fair and balanced, remember. That doesn't exist in these threads.
Oh, and crap "facts" fly here constantly.
YOU live in fear. Life is short. Enjoy your movie with one eye on your fellow carriers. I'll be "laying low".
I take her when I can but we don't go enough for her to really pick up on it enough to run the drills that I want to run with her in order to build some good proficiency. Ideally, I would take a weekend and a couple thousand rounds and get her to the point to where posture, grip, trigger pull, target acquisition, ect is all muscle memory. However, finding that much ammo and time is hard to do these days. She is at the point now to where I think she can grab the gun and somewhat confidentially throw lead down range. She is also not that much into guns. She learns about my guns because I want her to be familiar with them so she can handle the, safely.
There is a new outdoor range that is about 10 minuts from my house. It's on the military property but outside the gate and I believe it's ran by the sheriffs office. They are very cool there and have multiple ranges for shooting different distances if you want. The only thing I don't like about that range is they don't let you draw from a holster, fire and reholster. Your pistol has to be either in your hands or on the bench.
I completely agree with other people at the range though. The last time I went I almost flipped out on a guy that turned his sideways to clear it and basically pointed a hot gun towards the firing lanes.
I was earlier portrayed as a "fear monger" and didn't see or understand it.
YOU live in fear. Life is short.
Do you lock your house doors at night?
Do you wear your seatbelts?
Do you lock your car doors?
Do you have health insurance?
Do you have home (+/- flood) insurance?
Do you have disability or life insurance?
Do you go to your doctor for annual exam?
Does your wife get mammograms?
Do you wait for light to turn green before taking off?
Do you look both ways before crossing the street?
The list goes on and on. Does that mean that you live life in fear if you do any of the above? No. It just means that you are prepared for possibilities. Is carrying a gun in a holster a big painful experience? No...it is basically invisible to everyone else and i can carry it all day long without any discomfort. If anything, there are many things in life that i do on a daily basis that is a lot more PIA than carrying a conceal legal handgun.
Your bias, your lack of experience with conceal handgun, your over-dramatization, and your clear ignorance on the topic at hand show in your posts.
Maybe it is YOU who needs to step back and look at the bigger picture and try to understand other (opposing) views. Fair & balance approach, as you stated. You need to apply some of that...instead of just blindly spitting it out and doing the opposite.
For me, i try to look at both sides of everything...do i always accomplish it? No. But i know my weakness and strive for being balanced in any discussion...and of course, it always help to bring the facts into the picture. You may want to do the same....
Your thoughts? Am I wrong?
Thanks for the obvious life-preparedness lesson and listening to yourself preach. Moving on......
Scenario 1.....
200 people in theatre. 30 are carrying guns because the state allows it (I don't know if this would be a high or low ratio). Shooter enters and kills 5 people. Chaos ensues. You fill in the rest.....
Scenario 2.....
200 people in theatre. 0 are carrying guns because the state disallows it. Shooter enters and kills 5 people. Chaos ensues. You fill in the rest.......
You can continue either scenario and fill it in any number of ways, but I think scenario 2 is far more volatile and likely to have greater casualties regardless of whether the shooter keeps shooting or not. No facts/statistics. Just what I think. In my mind, the presense of those guns in the hands of the CPW's with unknown skill and composure is an absolute powderkeg and it will take only seconds to get very out of control.
Your thoughts? Am I wrong?
And yes, I'm admittedly blindly spitting this out just like I did earlier because I find your responses interesting (until you bash me making me not like you and I respond inappropriately). It helps me gain the "perspective" you so desperately think I need. Help me overcome my bias.
