Looking for the proper wireless fob

PDX98Limited

Hi everyone, I just got back into the 4runner game when I bought a 1998 Limited. I previously had a 1994 SR5, but it got wrecked. When I bought the 4Runner it did not come with a wireless fob and has the RS3000. I am trying to find the proper fob for the 1998 Limited, but don't know what it looks like. I have seen several types. I am trying to get a stock one if possible. Help.

eBay would be my first choice. Probably be easier to find if someone who has that style will post the correct FCC ID - mine is different.

Yea I wish Toyota would update that bulletin because for the 99 some models used the figure 10 remote and it really screws things up. I ran into this problem when I replaced mine.

I just got mine off ebay. But good luck trying to find them for under $60 if you want an OEM one. I got mine for $38 being it was the cheapest one I had found.

Look around on ebay for them though. If you want you could go aftermarket but that is only if you trust aftermarket ones to work.

Do you know of a place where I can find one that is in good shape?

An ad for this site popped up on my ipad after posting in this thread last night:
https://www.keylessentryremotefob.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=Toyota&Search=1998&Search=4Runner

DISCLAIMER: I know nothing about that site, and I'm not saying that any of the ones pictured on that page are the correct ones for your application. Also, it looks like the part that attaches to your key ring is broken on some of the units they are selling, so check into that as well.

EDIT: Here's another site you might check, they have a feature that allows you to look it up by your VIN: http://www.keylessride.com/default.asp
