looking to add SIRIUS SAT, to new trail w/ NAV.

I have seen a few small threads but nothing concrete on this.
I am looking at the SCC1 with the TOY-SC1. Has anyone used this with success? I want to use the factory screen to control the sirius and not add anything else.

Technically we have XM......yeah yeah.....one of the same but they do separate them for programming. Not sure if the OP means XM or if he has a current Sirius plan trying to use that on our systems.

Don't know about the USA, but in Canada Sirius carries the Canadian Broadcasting System feeds, and XM does not, which is a deal-breaker for me. OTOH, Sirius has carried the CBC from the start, but I believe I need a new headset and antenna to receive it. Do any Canadians on this forum have newer info?

Yes i know it has XM, but i have a lifetime subscription to sirius. I was going to swap out the head unit to an aftermarket one. If i can get sirius working on the factory unit thats a plus to me. I use a garmin GPS and like that better than any built i unit i've ever seen.

you know, for being the same company they sure dont make it easy to combine, transfer, or do anything else over there. I cant even get the same account number for my xm and the wifes siruis.

I would think you would be able to swap the controllers out, but without seeing each i dont know.

The problem is, they are the same company now, but when all the technology was released, they were 2 very different companies and sirius didn't want XM using sirius' radios or satellite signals and likewise with XM. As a result, they both purposely developed incompatible technology.

Now that they've combined, they don't have enough money to release the proper hardware, so they still use the old equipment.

Also I believe they are NOT the same company in Canada, sirius and XM have to operate separately so there is no sharing of content. Because of this I have an american sirius subscription with the best of XM package so I get both sirius and XM on the sirius radio my dad gave me.

The bottom line on the Sirius-XM deal is that they're two separate companies when it's convenient (i.e. when lifetime subscription holders want to transfer their accounts from one to the other). The fact that the hardware is "incompatible" is irrelevant at this point because ONE company owns all of the content; they just need to beam it where it needs to go. However, when you call the "XM" side of SiriusXM they will tell you that they don't have access to the Sirius side of SiriusXM and vice versa. It's not a technology issue at this point, it's a "charge XM subscribers more per month for Sirius content (aka Howard Stern), and make people pay month-to-month even after they've purchased a lifetime subscription". This model can also be seen with their Internet radio pricing as well.
