Looking to lift near Pittsburgh

Im in the hunt to lift up my 4runner. This is the first toyota I have ever owned and I love it! Ive been in cars for the past 10yrs and miss my lifted truck from highschool. I bought it used and it was already lifted so I dont know where to begin. I live 40 min from Pitt and 30min from Wheeling. Does anybody know a shop that is top knotch in knowledge and install?

Personally, I'd do some research here for knowledge. Very few shops will give an unbiased opinion, it's all about the $$ for them.

Are you going for looks, or do you need increased performance for off road?

^^ x2. Please take the time to read on here, there are various sections with LOADS of info. I have been reading for almost 5 months now and it was MANY hours of reading before I began to make a list of what I wanted to do, researching it on here, and checking out reviews.
There are literally thousands of threads on here that can contain all the info. you will need to know. Good Luck in your quest to make the truck go UP!!!

Just going for looks, go with a spacer lift, daystar makes a 2.5/1.5 kit and Toytec makes a 3/2 kit, both are very good products. How much lift are you wanting? What size tires do you plan to run?

I was thinking 3" on the lift. I'm not too sure about tires just yet. I want something that looks mean but I don't want to mod to fit.

Yes this truck is really great and everybody loves it in this forum.

Also keep in mind that if you want 3" all around, it will still have a rake to it, meaning that it will lean forward still, as it does stock. The front will need slightly more lift than the rear, but I'm sure you've already discovered that one, haha.

I'm about 30 min South of Pittsburgh myself. I'm still a newbie when it comes to this stuff, but I've read hours and hours and hours of threads deciding what I want to do and will likely tackle it myself sometime in the next couple months (minus the alignment of course).

I'm leaning towards FJ springs all around with:

Front =
- Bilstein 5100 (set at stock lift because of the stiffer FJ coils)
- Toytec 1/2 spacer (net 1")

Rear =
- Just the FJ coils mentioned above
- havent decided on the shocks I will use yet. The Billies may be firmer than I would like in the back, as I have Air Lift 1000 bags in my rear coils (which will also fit the rear FJ coils).


I'm hopefully looking at around 1.5" front / .5" rear with this setup. (I would go Cornfed 2/1 lift, but my stock size tires are practially brand new, and I don't want them to look small with too much lift!) Plus, I'm competing with the height of my garage... I really want some 265/70/17 tires, but just can't justify the purchase with the brand new 265/65/17 tires on there right now...
