Looking to trade FJ in for 5th gen 4Runner. A couple quick questions...

Hey guys!

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm looking to trade my FJ in on a 4Runner Limited within the next couple months.

I've test driven the new 4Runner at least four or five times. I am in love with it!!!!!

What I am not in love with, is the Entune system. At all. :ybrick:

I've built my own 4Runner on Toyota's site multiple times (under a few different regional zip codes, might I add), and I cannot find a way to option it without Entune. I know that I could simply pick up a Limited with it, however, I would never even use 3/4 the stuff that comes with Entune, let alone pay a monthly fee after my three year prepaid subscription is up.

What I am after, is the Limited trim level with a plain radio with the JBL system, where I push buttons, and it works. Just like this!. Even if I have to get the nav system & jbl by themselves...just as long as it doesn't have Entune.

So, my question to any (2012) 5th gen Limited owners out there...were you able to snag one without entune? If so, was your dealer able to locate one, or was it a special order?

All the Nav systems now (2012) come with Entune. No way around it.

And you can't swap the non-premium and premium audio. The wiring harnesses are completely different.

The best way to go is to get one with Entune, take out that unit, put in whatever you want, and sell the head unit. You still take a hit in the pocketbook though.

I'm also a first time poster. I just got a 2012 limited last month. My nav system does not have Entune. I think (not 100% sure) Entune is not excluded from the nav system that is packaged with the 3row seats. That was the difference I saw in the window sticker when comparing it to one that had the cargo tray.

I have a 2012 T4R Limited 4WD with 7' Navigation and JBL. I do not have the 3rd row seats. This does not have Entune. If you buy the one w/o the $1200 Navigation Upgrade package then you get the Entune with 6" Nav and the rest of Entune crap. If you opt for the 7" Nav with JBL - then you DO NOT get Entune.

My 12 LE did not have the entune system, I'm assuming it was a early model 2012 or late 2011.
Look around you may get one, I looked for 6 months to get mine, but seeing as we are almost half way through 2012 I think it may be very hard to find one.
You may be better off getting a newly used one, search carmax and see what you can find

First of all, welcome!

I also have a 2012 Limited with the JBL 15 Speaker Navigation System-- it does not have Entune. You should be good to go if you order this option!

I run mine with the display off-- I rarely need the navigation, but the Bluetooth phone setup works great with iPhone / iPod-- I'm a big fan.

On a side note, I did the Infiniti Kappa 3.5" speaker "mod"-- WHAT a difference. Just a $50 investment and the stereo sounds pretty darn good!
