2000 LTD, 156k mi.
Took it to the dealership today for an unrelated problem. They stated the front driver's side tie rod was loose and recommended a replacement of the entire steering rack. $550 plus labor.
Steering is tight, but I notice some wobble when hitting bumps. Nothing major. That seems pretty extreme to me, but I am not an expert.
I'm having some work done tomorrow at an independent shop and will most likely ask them for a second opinion. What is the likelihood of having to replace an entire steering rack over this?
