Loud Gear Whine with new gears

Hey man, I could show you how to change your gear oil, I have everything to do it, pick up some new crush washers for a few bucks and your flavor gear oil of choice and let me know when you wanna do it.

Thanks jmildoc, I will give you a shout when I get back in town. Right now taking it to my uncles mechanic just to get a second opinion...but stuck up in Chesterton until I can get it figured out. I may have to rent a car to get back down to indy and leave my truck up here to get worked on.

I wanted to chime in with my regear experience. I too went from 4.10s to 4.88s, and noticed a different sound...best way to describe it was like having a set of aggressive mud terrain tires on the truck. I was worried something wasn't done right, and had several questions for the installer as well as ECGS. In the end everything was done right, and it is just part of the process. I'm highly attuned to various noises and things other people would miss. I don't even notice it now, but of course I've done the deckplate mod, ISR mod, and upgraded the exhaust to a Borla myself. Mainly so much time has passed I've forgotten what it sounded like stock.

I broke in the diffs gently and had the fluid changed out after 1K miles, as recommended. Everything was fine...no shavings or anything else to indicate there was a problem. I'm including a link to my post for background info. If you have any additional questions let me know.

So went back to the fella that installed the gears. He thinks its all straightened out shimmed the pinion and said it has a slight whine when on the gas but disappears after that.

The new problem is that when the 4wd button is engaged the dash light pops on for a second then goes away. Any idea what may cause that with a gear swap?
