So I installed my TRD SC about 10,000 miles ago and could never figure out why I was only getting 5psi. I checked all suggestions out such as leaks, worn rotors, etc. and was unable to find anything.... until yesterday.
Come to find out, TRD made an underdrive pulley as an option for people who were getting ping/detonation when the kits first came out. It was offered as a free replacement but was never sold as an individual part.
The original pulley size is a 2.37" whereas this underdrive pulley is a 2.65". From what I have read, each .1" equals approximately 1psi of boost. This is why I only see 5 when the kit is rated 6.5-7psi.
I have had 0 issues with pinging/detonation and the truck pulls very well without any fuel mods however the bug has bit me for more. (I am btw at about 3500ft elevation and ALWAYS run 91 or 93 octane.
Now I just have to decide, do I order the 2.2" now or do I find a stock 2.37" and see how the truck performs before getting the 2.2".
