Low Lift from Slee?

Bumpin' this old thread, hope that's ok (I did scan the FAQ beforehand, didn't find any rule against it unless I missed it).

This thread was helpful for me, glad I found it. Was at Slee today and landed on the following with their guidance for a V6. Having it installed on the 24th of this month.

  • 2883
  • 90021
  • 60004
  • 2895E
  • Installation & Alignment by Slee
  • 5 x 265/65-18 10-ply G2's on stock rims

Any current updates/comments from others running this setup (or similar), still consider it a good decision? Any pitfalls you've found after hammering more miles? Pics in this thread are exactly what I want (moderate lift, slight rake), I'm just hoping on/off-road performance and ride quality hit the mark based on the combination of parts I'm going with. I trust the advice I was given, shout out to the Slee staff for a solid experience, just need to 'feel it' in the real-world at this point.

No complaints from me. I am still very pleased with the setup. Added 255/75r17 Cooper ATPs. For my style of use it has worked out very well. Looking forward to an update from you after the install.

What are you paying for install?

What are you paying for install?

Too Much! :naughty: But... My days of wrenchin' are far behind me, not doing it. Too impatient, too stoopid, too lazy, no experience with suspension work on a 4Runner, don't have the full compliment of tools on-hand...pick any excuse. Sincerely, my time is more valuable spent elsewhere and candidly, I want this work done by professionals. Dropping more coin going this route than I care/need to but I'm good with it.

To answer your question the estimate prices are;
  • $ 51.50 labor to disco XREAS
  • $412.00 labor for suspension install
  • Plus extra of course for parts, alignment and mount/balance on the G2's and tax on total

MN4RNR - "Thanks" for sharing an update, gives me added confidence in my part# choices.

No Name's 2008 Limited

First, Slee OffRoad, exceptional counsel, technical expertise (the ‘real’ work gettin' done by the guys out back) and customer service…exemplary. There’s a reason why this brand is well-renowned; I can’t compliment those folks enough. As twisted as this state has become I’m still glad I live in CO, for a host of reasons, Slee is one of em’. Added call out to Amory specifically, this gentlemen “gets” service.

2008 Limited
Upgrades:
  • 883’s (an excellent call for my requirements)
  • 90021’s (Sport)
  • 2895E (another right decision)
  • 60004 (Sport)
  • XREAS decommission
  • 265/65-18 Terra Grappler G2’s x 5 (man…I have no miles on this setup yet and I am so glad I didn’t succumb to a panzy-azz “comfort” mind-set. E-rated 10-ply all-day long, definitely a smart move and I haven’t even started yet but this was clearly the right choice)
  • Installation services, alignment, etc.…all Slee today
  • New Weather Tech mats - LOL

Pre measurements (and don’t ask me about this…I really don’t give a s*** about perfect measures…these are down and dirty…that’s all I got...and all I'm gonna do :))
  • Driver (left) front 31.5” at bottom panel seam
  • Driver (left) rear at back seam 35.0”
  • Passenger (right) front 32.0” at seam
  • Passenger (right) rear 34.75”

After measurements
  • Driver (left) front 34.5” at bottom panel seam
  • Driver (left) rear at back seam 37.25””
  • Passenger (right) front 35.0” at seam
  • Passenger (right) rear 37.25”

I’ll put ~1K miles on and see where it “settles.”

Pressures out the door at ~36 psi, was cool with that, will move to 42 front, 40 rear shortly and “tweak from there.”

Summary, it’s what I wanted and planned; “discreet visual, a low/no maintenance setup, leveled (kinda) with a tad more clearance, a little more sidewall, still fits in the garage with a ski rack and so far (too early for this assessment but…) rides tight, civil, quiet and just feels damn good re: handling." I’m good for day 1, we’ll see where it goes after some miles. Bottom-line, all I wanted is a ride that has a little more to offer hittin’ the MTB trail heads and trout streams…

Next up...new battery, emergency jump/device charging kit and an under-hood air-compressor (April) and I'm done for awhile.

Obligatory pics (dirty, we had a blizzard yesterday, will put up some “pretty, staged crap later.”

Crappy cell phone pic:

Reviving an old thread here, but anyone have any updates on how much these springs have settled?

I just picked up a 2008 SR5 4wd which is bone stock. I'm coming from a 2008 Tacoma Prerunner with 5100's on it and was a little surprised how low the 4runner feels in comparison as it stands now.

I am basically looking for the same things listed above. 2" lift allowing me to run 265/70/17 BFG All Terrains but keep everything in spec without the need for replacement UCAs.

My only concern is if the Low OME lift will settle to about 1" since I've read the 3" OME springs settling at 2". I'd like to maintain a full 2" of lift after the settling period. I also read that a good amount of people with the 3" springs still end up needing replacement UCAs so I am a bit torn on what to do.

I am also considering the Dobinsons 2" springs and shocks, but there isn't nearly as much info out there on them stateside.

I have been running 883s for 12 months. They did not settle at all and I'm very happy with the height and ride. The coils are on 5100's on the lowest clip and my hub center to fender flare measurement is 22.5". I did need a 5mm spacer for the drivers side to correct some lean.
Running T12's in the rear. I chose them because they only increased the spring rate by about 10% with a 1.5" lift. This set up gave me the perfect amount of rake to deal with the kind of loads I commonly have. Also put in 2nd gen rear sway bar end links to remove the preload after the lift and that made a noticeable improvement to the handling.

the F 5100/wheeler T1 2" coil and R 5100/wheeler T13 1" or Dobinson 59-599 coil. Just dont pair the 5100s with a coil with more than a 15%-20% (600 lbs front and 220 rear) increase over the stock coil spring rate or the ride will suffer...If you go with OME go with the entire coil, strut and shock package since they are valved to be paired together..

Also you can get by with 1" to 1.5"s of lift and install 265/70/17s without them rubbing. So if youre worried about the springs settling and compromising the use of 265/70/17s i dont think thats an issue..

Haven't measured in some time but...I've observed nothing remotely close to that kind of settling with this OME setup. Sits, rides, looks good (to me) on/off road and continues to meet expectations. Run 265/65 18"s (equiv. circumference), no spacers, all stock, alignment holds, life is good.

Glad to hear that the OME883 kit hasn't settled significantly and didn't need any UCAs to property align. This seems like a solid option.

I had not read about the 5100/Wheeler spring combo yet. I was happy with the 5100s on my Tacoma with the stock TRD springs. I will go ahead and research this combination as well now... it looks like it'll be a little less than the full OME kit. What's the main difference between the T12 and T13 springs?

Thanks for all the great info.

Is anyone running wheel spacers with this setup? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on it this weekend. When I had my 5th gen, I put Icon all the way around (3/2). Visually, it bothered me how much it looked like the wheels moved in after the lift. I put Spidertrax on it and all was good. I'm wondering if this lift - although lower - will have a smilier effect on the wheels?

Also, just to make sure, 265/70 17's will fit without rubbing or having to cut or remove the mud flaps?

Don't/won't run spacers on any of my rides so this reply is FWIW...

If your looking for it, yeah, the visual dynamic will change a bit and you'll probably notice since its already in your head (less pronounced than your 3/2 experience most likely).

Rubbing/mods? With spacers, I don't know but doubtful. Without spacers there is plenty of clearance under load and in various trail conditions with a ~31.5" X 10.5" tire on a 7.5" stock wheel/offset when paired with a well engineered suspension (spring rates, vehicle weight w/ accessories, etc.). I run OEM Limited 18" wheels that have a slightly different offset than a stock 17" (I think 25 vs 30 so I'm tad more outboard, 5mm) and 265/65-18 AT's (same tire measurements), works well for basic off-roading (trout streams, camp sites, trail heads). If your hammerin' hard-core or planning to...different conversation and suspension requirements altogether.

Thank you sir. I'm ordering the suspension and tires Monday.

No hard core off road for me. These are very capable vehicles in their stock form, so just the little I'm adding will be plenty for wherever I go.

I did pick up an inexpensive set of used Spidertrax, so I'll look at the difference both on and off.

After 2 full years running them I am sitting at these measurements Center of hub to wheel well.
DF 21.75
PF 21.75
DR 22.5
PR 22 5/8

I can't find my original measurements but I don't notice any settling beyond the initial.

I'm running this exact setup with the Spidertrax spacers. I'm on 18" limited wheels with 265s and it required minor trimming up front. The spacers are necessary in my opinion to get rid of the "hovercraft" look. It's all personal preference.

Im considering this lift. My Xreas is a little leaky and I imagine this would ride much nicer. I would probably keep with my 265/70/17's. Are there any issues anyone has noticed with this lift besides using spacers or not?

Been considering this lift (Slee OME Low) for my eventual Xreas replacement/upgrade. Like others, I'm looking for about 2" over stock and maybe a bit more level. Stock sized tires.

What is this "Wheelers" package you guys also mentioned?
