The Warn bumper came with a winch remote extension, to prevent the user from having to cut the radiator cover and reach all the way down to the winch. Pretty cool!

Examples provided showed it installed on the bottom of the bumper cover. #nope

I scratched my head for a minute and ended up making this simple, custom bracket to keep the whole setup hidden/protected, but available when the hood was popped for winching.

(You can also connect the remote and close the hood on the first click if we absolutely need to see forward while we’re winching.)

First of all, thanks for the compliment.

Second of all, unfortunately, the double-sided tape was a big fat fail.

My wife and I just got done DE-installing the tape and snorkel. We then we measured, drilled holes and then re-installed with the stock bracket. Solid as a rock.

Glad we tried it though. It was a heavy duty, white foam tape, that popped of a few days later allowing the snorkel to vibrate against the a-pillar…so maybe a thicker, stronger adhesive tape would work?

Ours was a double-sided 3M product. I’ll see if i can find the remainder of the roll, so you/others avoid that specific part number.

And just a bit more detail, it stuck like the dickens to the painted metal of the t4r. The failure came when it lost it’s grip on the snorkel side. I wonder if someone installed the bracket on the snorkel(without drilling), if the metal-tape-metal “sandwich” would be more successful.

Yup, like i said, it might not have been the right tool for the job. I don’t have the package anymore, but it’s a foam “permanent”, “extreme hold” mounting tape.

Maybe one of the black vinyl/urethane based tapes would be better? I don't think what i used was a VHB. I, of course, see many more HEAVY duty tapes available online now that i’m looking, but alas, our project is complete.

Yes, we did. ARB instructions are top notch overall, in my experience, and their notes were spot on, OTHER than the fact that my step drill bit happened to allow me to drill a 7.67mm hole vs. an 8mm hole and the "snug-ness" of the nylon screw inserts was perfect, at that slightly smaller diameter.
That is one of my previous complaints of their hardware on my 1st gen 4runner install - it was a bit loose, even with the screws tightly installed.

Measure thrice, measure again and then cut once. :cheers:

Waiting for my Warn Synthetic hawse fairlead to arrive.

Trying to decide on a cable end (factor55, etc) Seems safer than a hook, but man, they’re pricey!

Installed our new ironman awning on our new LFD crossbars. Very easy install using LFD awning mounts. (Could have used the supplied ironman awning brackets. They’re very nice, but i didnt know they were included…D’oh!)

Also installed the new Warn 1.5 aluminum hawse fairlead. Fits well and mitigates the sharp-ish leading edge of the 100022 bumper. $100 seems like too much money but i shopped around and that’s just the going rate for fairleads these days.

BTW, Reviews of thin anodized/powdercoating are true. Mine’s already scratched from very light contact with the winch hook, but i guess i don’t really care since it’s aluminum? If it gouges, i feel like i can just sand/file it smooth?

Well, i took a risk with a vendor who has received some flak for poor customer service in the past on this forum. I started Looking at all the options for a rear cargo plate, including:

Goose gear (nice, but $$$$ and invasive install had me bumming)
Sherpa (requires drilling, not as many mounting holes pre-drilled and $165.00 shipping to socal, ouch!!)
and of course the DIY route (which my wife promptly vetoed…lol).

Then i found AJC. I read the review on trail4runner and was immediately intrigued.AJC Gear Plate with Cargo Tray Delete 5th Gen 4Runner - Install & Review

Their cargo plate is:

1. Predrilled and T-nutted for all sorts of add-ons
2. Rhino-lined
3. Designed to use existing screw-holes and leaves carpeting/insulation intact
4. Light-weight
5. A simple square shape that doesn’t remove/mod existing trim.
6. Reasonably priced @ $350 + normal shipping cost

…and best of all, it’s already waiting in my garage due to a reasonably short lead/ship time. Quality looks to be top notch. It’s basically what i would have built myself if i had the time or patience, though i don’t think mine would have ended up as clean. Some might say that the cost isn’t justified, but you have to understand, my last two 4x4’s had me in the garage for YEARS (YEARSSS) working, wrenching, measuring, cutting, sweating, swearing, grinding, welding and toiling on tasks that seemed to never end and honestly had nothing to do with exploring and adventuring.

This 4runner is supposed to be a paradigm shift. A modest, thoughtful “buy once, cry once” build that pulls me out of the shop and into God’s country where my wife and i want to be. So, AJC came through, i’m very happy with their customer service and i’m hoping to install tomorrow for some secure gear storage solutions, before our first real trail ride on Saturday.
