However, this video does an excellent job of describing the whole process and why you use the typical ball joint removal tool and how to use it safely. Not a Toyota but his BJ has to be pushed downward, just like ours.

I'm in a similar situation, I just put a lift on. Found out the LCA bushings were shot. The mechanic ended up pressing out the old ones (took him a full day using heat and an air hammer!) put new ones in. Replaced a seized cam bolt. and now i'm noticing the LBJs are leaking grease. I wish I would have just replaced the LCAs in the beginning but now that most of the important parts have been replaced i'm looking at the Moog LBJ replacement options.

All the 3rd moog horror stories scare me but I'm not seeing any of that on the 4th gens. What's everyone's experience after the Moogs LBJ have been installed? Are they fine on the 4th gens or should I still just get the OEM LCA assemblies?

I did. Wasn't too bad. The scary part was all the potential energy you have to put into the ball joint press before they finally let go. Other thing is make sure you point your grease zerks straught back. I angled mine a bit and now I can't get a grease gun on them.

You're not kidding about the potential energy. I had mine loaded into a 20 ton press and it wouldn't budge even with heat.

I had to redo my lowers. The raybestos complete arms had shitty boots. Now that I have an advance auto in town, I rented their kit and it had everything I needed. Really easy, had to crank on the press like a madman but it gave way.

I'm unimpressed with the Moog lower BJs due to their rubber boots no longer doing their job. I noticed that the boots simply slide up from their home location, thereby exposing the grease to dirt and crap. When I lift the front of the vehicle up and let the LCA hang, you can totally see the vulnerable parts exposed to the elements. Not impressed.

Are yours the integral boot or the separate typical looking boot? I recently installed LBJ's with the integral boot. Wish the uppers had the same instead of the separate boot.
