Lowered expectations - a Bilstein ride question

how many perches were on the shock 3 or 5. If 5 then they go on the 2nd perch if there are 3 then they go on the lowest perch. When I bought mine I didn't know there were two different shocks with multiple perches and I got the 3 perch shocks and on the 2nd perch they rode like sh#@. Rode much better once I lowered it back down to where it was supposed to be.

They are the 3 perch version - and I have them on the second....so yeah it is a little rough. I'm trying to talk Toytec into just selling the adjustable collar so I can turn it into a true coilover anyway. I like the fact the truck with 295/70's and some extra weight doesn't lean in the corner.
Thanks for the feedback though! I may just drop them to the 1st perch this weekend to see how she rides at the proper setting.

If it's 3 perch then I highly recommend running it on bottom perch brotha. Can you take a pic of how the eibachs are installed.

Perch number two in this pic. I figured it was like ordering a coffee - Large is too big, small is too small....the middle is just right. I was wrong.

-DON'T buy a spring compressor from Harbor freight and expect it to work.
-DON'T buy new top-plates from autozone and expect them to fit.
-DON'T pay OK Tire $60 to assemble it incorrectly.
-DON'T put the D558 Tacoma Bilstein on the second perch.
-DO Save your self the trouble and pay Toytec or Wheelers to assemble it for you.

Lmfao ke and my friend assembled the eibachs with harbour freight spring compressor. I was scared !!!

You are running the Tacoma Bilsteins.

Tacoma on 1st perch = Tundra bilsteins on 2nd perch

(You're current setup) Tacoma on 2nd perch = Tundra on ~3.25? perch

That explains the stiff ride you are experiencing.

Not to kick a dead horse here but I just lowered my Bils down to the first perch and I must say that the ride is much much better. Another tip for those wanting to do this swap:
User only Toyota top-plates. When I disassembled the strut the shaft of the shock has rubbed against the top plate enough to wear a sizable groove in the plate. Apparently the isolaters did not do their job. Problem solved for me and I have a nice riding truck.

Sigh....Autozone it is. Hoping to avoid them for a while. Bought top-plates for the new struts from them. Studs didn't line up and isolater was too big...but per them is is the right part. Had to mill down the isolater and ream out the OEM mount to get it to fit.

Wish I saw your post before I tried to install autozone HD duralast top hats as well. What a waste of time. Hahah

Just think of how good you will be at dis-assembling that strut by the time you are done. Don't feel too bad - I didn't know either.

I used the monroe on 2 other builds without issues. Sorry to see you have issues
