Lowering an 06 Runner

You will get a lot of comments and input from this site....not sure if you will like it but you will get some. Burtman Industries has some lowering components, not sure if its for the 4th or 3rd gen but you could check it out. Good luck. :cheers:
 
To all that say why, WHY NOT? Anyway Jaos makes some lowering springs but I don't think I'll be as low as you want. JAOS OFFICIAL SITE
There are some companies like sitting sic, eibach, and DJM that might help you do a one off. Also look up Tundra Racing. My buddie just lowered his 4x4 crew cab taco and looks nice. This is with 2.5 drop in the front and 3.5 in the rear. Other than that you might have to go a custom route.

To each their own. Most of us here want to raise our trucks and go with bigger tires.

What is important is that you are happy with a great vehicle!

X2......my only thing is that if I wanted something lowered (I'm thinking is350 or something along those lines) I'd want it to get more than 16mpg. If you're going to get awful mileage might as well have all the functionality.

if this would appeal to anyone you'd think Toyota would make it, I don't know, maybe label them X-runner for the sport truck scene, aw heck, thats just crazy talk I guess, haha
 
Honestly? I've seen some Trucks and SUV lowered and running racing rims and tires. I gotta admit that most of them look really bad, but some of them are really well done!

So while 95% lift and deck out our trucks for Off-Road, the other 5% like to keep it on the concrete and rock it.
 
I do like that 3rd gen. I'm always a to 'each their own' and can always appreciate the differences when it comes to modifying and tuning a vehicle. I don't get why people feel the need to bash just because they don't like it, but thats something you can't control. Back to topic, the easiest way or rather most common are two setups. One is a drop is by shorter stiffer springs. Makes handling more stable and responsive with less body roll. Also keeps a good camber angle that can be adjust with an alignment. Then there is a drop that replaces components, such as control arms, to maintain factory angle while going very low. However, it retains stock springs, so you maintain the stock soft suspension. It'll depend on what you want. either a low comfy ride or one that is more suited to cornering.

Anyways thank you all... Tundra racing great people...the only thing we can do there is the tacos sleeve do fit the front but the prob. is the back. yes burtman and jaos, but burtmans is the same as jaos they r battlez spring and the max they have is a 2in drop for about 550. i would have to clarify my info but it was understood iit was only the 2 rear springs for that price. Unfortunetly there will be no one offs made tried that already. Companies wont do just one. more than likely whats gonna happen is going to be my first trial, if i can find some extra stock springs....SO if you know n e one shoot them my way...will be a cut spring with an air shock combination..see how that goes..I prefer performance handling than anything, thats why i like to lower my vehicles. Plus the lower Cg.

I'd like to lower mine also, but would be looking for the "low comfy ride," cornering would be great, but still would prefer the comfy ride, so I guess I'll be looking into this also. That 3rd Gen posted above by "BlackWorksInc" is nice.
 
Well news update... The link that my buddy listed. the company never even had them.....oh well screw them.. its innovation time.....so yeah unless u want to spend 575 on a set of springs you can get the battlez springs..in the meantime more to come..Also onceif n e one has a set of 4th gen rear springs they r willing to let go of plz call me 305-423-9215...thank you.. also if you have the eibach spring for the fj as well.
 
ok it has begun thanks to very much appreciated dude that did the fj suspension swap on his 4runner..i was able to get his old springs!!!. Thanks again!!!!! ordered my air shocks and my rear sway bar....unfortunetly i have to wait til may for my sway bar...so this is whats about to happen....the rear springs r goin to get cut n it will be supported by a set of air shocks, thats going to help with the bounce that most would say it would give the vehicle. It will also be helped along the newer n stiffer sway bar nfor some better handling..Thats what we r trying to achieve here.. not that its not good already.. i am expecting good results out of this..so this will be my first build type thread..keep you all posted...
 
You could try the old school lowrider trick by heating the springs a little at a time and evenly until you get the drop you want. Don't forget to cut the bumpstops a little. If you cut the springs you might have to get shorter shocks or limiting straps so your "cut" springs won't fall out when the suspension is flexed.
