Macoyle's 04 build thread

hey man, your rig is set up just about how id like mine. as far as lift and tires go. black is hard to keep clean, and its HOT, but man does it look good.

have you had any issues with the tires rubbing?
how about cv axles/boots?

can you snap a pic showing the cv axle angles? I was under my totally stock 06 the other day, and it actually looks like the axles go UP to the tire. meaning, I should be able to get 2-3" of lift, and still only have a very slight (1.5-2") angle to the cv's. id rather not have any silly boot problems if I can help it.

Awesome build man. Waiting for the update

I haven't received the CBI bumper yet but I told them not to hurry at all since I am still recovering from my last back surgery, and I have another one on tuesday unfortunately. Thanks for the compliment!

Hey nevada,
Yes, the black paint job SUCKS!!! I absolutely hate it lol. Its the wife rig and she HAD to have black...If it was up to me, I would have chosen white, but happy wife, happy life!

As far as the tires rubbing, yes they rubbed when everything was first installed. I did have to trim a decent amount for everything to operate correctly. And with the CV angles, the angle is perfect. I did have an issue with the CV boots leaking after I installed the lift but that was easily fixed with clamps. I attached a picture of the current angle of the CV joints for you. Let me know if you want a different angle picture or anything else!

Damn, Mike. Another surgery? Isn't this like #15? Well, I hope everything goes well. My offer still stands to help with the CBI install, if you need it... and it sounds like you're going to need it.

oi with the rubbing. damn, I expected as much, but was hoping NOT.
can you get me some pics of where you had to trim?

those cv angles look GREAT, just about what I was expecting, based on how mine look stock. I may just end up with 1 size smaller of tire, to avoid excess trimming, and the body lift. grr. it just looks so good with the larger tires!

Hey, that's really nice of you to thank me, Mike, but Tom did, like 98% of the work! Still, it looks really nice and has the gears in my head turning. I'm going to have to buy the wife a BMW or something, to get her to go along with me ordering one! Regardless, I'm here if you need any heavy lifting with anything else!

Heres some updated pics. helo-mech Ive got another Helo wheel on order so the truck doesn't look goofy:

She's liking it, she thought she wouldn't like having to open the tire swing overtime she wanted in the back, but so far she says its not an issue at all. And she loves the look obviously!

JIMBO 4runner

Great Build!!! You have inspired me to continue my build, starting with some of those LEDs.

I also have a 03' V8 limited and got some questions about your lift-

What setting are your 5100's at with 885 OME springs? How much lift did you get front and back? Was your alignment in spec or are you buying aftermarket UCA's?

I'd love to add some functionality to my rig without replacing UCA's but want it to be right. No uneven tire wear or wobbly highway speeds.

What size tires are you running? Could you possibly post pics?

THANKS JIMBO03t4r!

Sorry, I haven't been on in a while. I assume by now, you got the information you were looking for. Let me know if you have any questions still. Thanks.
