MAF sensor connector help

I am trying to put a 99 model airbox and MAF in my sons 97 and I read that you have to change the pin-out of the connector. I must be suffering from a huge case of ."head up the ass syndrome" because I cant seem to de-pin the connector so I can change the pin-out.

I have a FSM and it shows how to do it but I still can't get it done. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Does anyone have pics of doing this or a link to a thread.

This is about the only useful thread I could find and half the pics don't work anymore. It doesn't show how to pull the wires out though.. is this what you're asking about?

Yep, I can't seem to get them to release from the connector.

Best luck I have with most automotive connectors are using T pins

Sometimes i will grind them flat to get a better grab on the detent. as for the specifics on the connector, I don't remember ever needing to do them.

Thanks Stick Figure, that looks like something I can work with. From what I have read on using the 99 MAF sensor in the 97 is that the pin out on the connector has to be changed.
