MAF Sensor

Since I bought my 4runner I have been having issues with error codes. I have replaced a cat and an o2 sensor but the check engine light stayed on. So my mechanic suggested I just drive it and hope the real issue shows up.

Past few days I have started getting a continual P0106 MAF sensor code and a pending P0606 ecu code. When I clean the sensor the check engine light stays off for about 30 minutes and comes back.

So I figure it might be worth replacing it, now I need the part number. On my unit it says Denso 22204-22010 but the Denso website and Toyota sites say it should be 197-6030. Looking at pics on the web there appear to be some knock offs around.

Can anyone confirm if I have the correct part fitted on mine or which number is correct?

It should be Denso 197-6030
Rock Auto has it for way less than a Toyota dealer.
Toyota has multiple part numbers for the same part sometimes due to revisions, so don't worry about it too much. My sensor is original and has the the same 22204-22010 on it.


If you're cleaning the MAF make sure you're spraying into the actual element inside the tube. That pin with darkened head on the side with a shroud around it is the intake air temp sensor.

I'd probably do a quick visual of the wiring harness and connectors to see if there's any stretched or nicked wires and such.

Thanks for the clarification on the part numbers. I have cleaned it a few times and allowed it to dry, but the error code is coming back much quicker now.

There has been voltage issues with the vehicle so issues with the wiring is also possible.

Yep I used a dedicated MAF cleaner and allowed it to dry fully but the code persisted. I have replaced the sensor and still had the code, suggestions from the forum suggest driving it until the ecm learns but it's been a week and I still have the code.

The original ECU was replaced with one from a salvage vehicle and has since been replaced another two times. So it's highly unlikely to be the ECU.

Bank 2 cat replaced with a correct new one, someone had previously fitted an upstream cat in the downstream position.

Bank 2 o2 sensor replaced with a brand new Denso and I still have the following error codes, P0606 P0157 P0106 an occasional P0201 and an odd one which I can't find for Toyota C1706.

Went back to the dealer I bought it from and his suggestion was "sell the sob" obviously not willing to help. Replacing the maf sensor I kinda knew was a pointless exercise but I just wanted to rule it out. I don't know how the wiring works but there is a fault somewhere that's allows all those codes to continue.
