Magert54 Build

Damn man..sorry you had to go through that. I understand the frustration when all you want to do is get the damn thing on so you can start enjoying it.

How much higher is the bumper than the bottom of the body panels?
I am sending pictures to SHROCKWORKS to have them verify.
1. Mount the brackets to the frame but keep the bolts loose to give you some wiggle room. that way you can slide the bumper into place then tighten the bracket bolts after the bumper is secured.
I tried that first. We couldnt get the bumper to slide between the brackets. its was too tight of a fit.
2. Looking at the pictures above i'm not sure if the front black bracket sticking out underneath the headlight is bent but if it isn't you might want to dremel/bend the outside corner because it might be coming in contact with the new bumper which may be causing the height issue (doubtful but just a thought)
That fits snug under the lip of the bumper. no issue there
I'm sure a good night's sleep might give you a better perspective when you try again.

Also, why is the a random boot on top of your headlight/battery?
Humm. you found the boot. now you must find the ant, the turtle, and the bee.

The boots are keeping the terminals from touching or moving around.

Hmm.. At first I thought this was just an attempt at humor in frustration, but I was bored so I decided to do some investigating using some high powered CSI/NCIS/L&O type enhancifying.

I looked at the first photo first and decided since it was kinda dark it would be best to increase exposure, so I kicked it up a couple of notches and I saw something peculiar under the nerf bar so I zoomed in...

There was clearly something there so I increased the exposure a bit more and cropped and zoomed a bit and this is what I saw!

That is clearly some sort of mutated turtle with ninja powers, he looks to be in his teens. I'm guessing this is magert54's advanced alarm system?

After cropping and zooming in a bit I was also able to find the bee and the ant.

gaterose,
I dont know what to say. Congrats are in order, you have completed the task way before i thought anyone could ever do.

Great build so far. I too am interested in seeing how the lights operate up there and if they bounce at all. Its really annoying when they bounce like momo said.

Grrr........Im so wrong. I had the wrong brackets (BL brackets). They are sending some new ones now.

Do you have to send the others back? It'd be nice if you ever decide to do a BL to have those on hand.

Thanks, A10MileHusker. No, Im keeping the set i have now.

Cool build..:boink: Whats next on your mod list? Sliders?

Next on my list, Humm I think im done with the outside for now. I have to work on upgrading the interior lights to LED, get a second battery. I dont know, when the time come ill let you know :)

Congrats man!! Glad you got everything worked out. Looks like you're missing a skid plate though

Did you get your lights up top hooked up?

My skid plate was a victim of my need to prep the area. I stripped the bolts on the skid plate then i just grinned them off. My plate looks like a Half Moon (i needed to get to the bolt). Its Ruined. The lights will be wired next month maybe.

Also, Gee Wiz info. Im running 100 cm in the rear and 97 cm from ground to fender. I raised the drivers side about 3 cm extra because of the gas tank. It leveled everything out.

OKOKOK.....here are some more pictures....

So it snowed in COLORADO SPRINGS yesterday and I saw on 2 inches max. So my wife, my son, and I headed into the mountains to see if we could get into deeper snow. Well turns out its possible to find that. After driving up 30-40 degree hills I was thoroughly impressed. The Duratracs were EATING the soil and snow. The time I did slide was because I downshifted while going into a corner on pack ice :( .

Its awesome to see the tires working in 6-8in of snow. The white snow billowing out the sides of the fenders looked great. Since I had the little one i couldn't play to hard but as a review, The ICONs are great! They are like the XREAS in a way but the XREAS could not soak the bumps in like the ICONs!

BTW, the PIAA's dont work yet. Next month ill get them wired

That looks fantastic! Now I have to save up for a suspension to handle the bumper on my wish list!

Thanks Guys

Thanks Doozi, Its worth saving up. I saved for 2 years for the setup.

Looks great, no sliders in the future?:snacker:

Thanks Mysticz, Maybe if I mangle the runners I have now (accidentally).
Very nice

How did the Duratraks do in the snow?
I am thinking about putting those on my 4Runner too.

Thanks Desert Fox as well, These Duratracs are like having snow spikes. I tried to test them. After driving up 30-40 degree hills I was thoroughly impressed. The Duratracs were EATING the soil and snow. I will say if i need a good snow tire I will choose these from now on. they are Awesome!
