MAGNAFLOW 15781 and Install LOUD!!!!!

So the exhaust connection past the muffler was looking very poorly. Still attached but since this is my winter vehicle I decided to deal with it at my convenience. Glad I did!

I wanted SS system with right side exit at least because I use Rock Tamers when towing my boat and I installed a 3" SS elbow to my OEM exhaust so it didn't blow on the rubber mudflap.
After much research I kept reading the Gibson system was loud but the Magnaflow system was much better. So I order it the beginning of June. Good thing it was backordered till 7/15. Finally arrived and I got time to deal with it.

The Install:
Package arrived and looks very good! Nice welds and bends. Installation went well. The only problem I found was with the mounting position of the tail pipe outlet area. If was way too close to the plastic bumper. My Runner has the stock bumper and have owned it since new so never wrecked. To give me clearance I bent the body hanger mounts for the tail pipe down almost 45 degrees in order to get clearance pictured. I have Walker Part No: 35296 hanger straps x 2 coming and will be able to put the body hanger back in position when I install them.

Road Test #1:
LOUD, LOUD, LOUD!!!! DID I SAY IT WAS LOUD!!!!
REALLY LOUD!!! SOUNDS LIKE A FRIGGIN BUS!!!
So I called Magnaflow and they advised me that was the largest muffler they have and install a install a resonator so I ordered a Vibrant Performance 1141 Vibrant Performance Ultra-Quiet Resonators from Summit. It arrived and I installed it the only place that was an option. in the header pipe between the header connection and so called muffler.

Road Test #2:
Much better but still loud after driving for about an hour my ears were starting to ring.

So I have ordered a Walker SS Q-flow Muffler. It will be here in a few days. I'm going to install it with the resonator I have in place and the duel outlet Magnaflow tail pipe when it arrives.

Anybody who wants a Magnaflow Muffler and V8 header pipe. Will work on a V6 with a header extension pipe or Vibrant Performance 1141 Vibrant Performance Ultra-Quiet Resonators from Summit and a tail pipe of your choice. I will contact Magnaflow for the part number for this system so you have it. I'll be listing it here.

My first thought is you installed it, test drove it, called Magnaflow and made all 3 posts within 3 minutes of each other. Busy couple minutes.

Moving on, most aftermarket exhaust complaints I’ve seen on here all say to give it 2-3 weeks to allow the muffler to fully burn then decide. It should tone down some in couple weeks.

Really ! If I must explain. I just wanted to post a few pics in certain order. But yeah I am fast!

It's not going to get that much better. A person may get more use to it but it isn't going to get that much better. I'll be moving on with the Magnaflow Muffler. If it was a V8 then it might sound better but there isn't a V6 or 4 cylinder that is worth hearing except for a VMax or Z1

If I wanted LOUD I would have ordered a Gibson system from what I understand. I really was just looking for side exhaust and not NOISE!

Well I can't say I'm surprised as loud as this muffler is. :redbrick:

They should have just made it a glass pack because that's pretty much what it is. No baffles to reduce noise just a little curve. REALLY why Oval then!

Nice now. I left the Vibrant Performance 1141 Vibrant Performance Ultra-Quiet Resonator in-line where it was installed. Just cut the extra pipe that was on the new walker ss and installed in place of the loud POS one and kept the duel side outlet.
