Magnaflow exhaust question (tip location)

Yes I did a search before I get flamed but I didn't find any recent posts on the issue. I'm looking to get a Magnaflow exhaust and noticed that one video shows a side exit and another shows a rear. I called Magnaflow and asked and he said the truck in the video was a 2011 even though it says 2012. So the exhaust for a 2010-2011 has a side exit and 2012-2014 comes straight out of the rear. Anyways, I have a 2014 Sr5, will the earlier side exit exhaust fit? I know the earlier body styles had the skirting and a cutout for the exhaust but the 2014 Sr5's did away with that. Looking at the diagram the systems they look identical except for the position of the tip not to mention the earlier one is about $100 cheaper. Not sure if anyone has tried the earlier exhaust on a newer one but any help is appreciated.

You have a question about the tip? Just the tip?

Should fit. 2010-15 4runners are mechanically identical a with the exception of the headlights and facia on the 14+
 
Yeah that's what I was thinking. I just went out and looked more closely at it there is a very small cut out in the bunper for the tip but I don't think it'd be noticeable if I moved the tip.
 
I like that you were scared of being "flamed" for not searching. a lot of people don't want to admit that is an issue around here.

anyway i know some people have the shop redirect their exhaust out to the side to try and help stop it from coming in the back window when its open.
 
Lol yes I've been on many forums and you always have those few idiots that have to chime in with "use the search button" and such which probably takes more effort than actually answering the question.

Anyways, I've been searching and I'm convinced that the early exhaust is the exact same except for the tail pipe assembly which I believe will work. Now I just need to order it and put my theory to the test.
 
No flame intended here, but if you were the person who took the time to put an FAQ together, or made the effort to make things easier to find you might understand a little better why we encourage use of the search function. I understand sometimes you just can't find what you are looking for regardless of how you may word your search. But this doesn't make it any less valuable a resource whose use should be encouraged. Aside from the new nose from the 14's forward this 5th Gen model has been around long enough almost every possible problem it can have has been identified and addressed at length.

But this is an interesting observation the OP made since I am also thinking about a Magnaflow cat back system. I simply had the impression they were all side exhausts. But I haven't really researched them yet because I'm not ready to order one.
 
I have a Magnaflow on my 2013 Limited. Side tip does NOT fit. Had to get a custom straight tip made. Pretty easy fix for a muffler shop.
 
I've been looking at this exhaust along with the Borla for my TE. Can one of you guys with the Magnaflow post a video so we can hear it?

See I see it a bit differently. It's pretty frustrating to see someone take the time to post "use the search" rather than post nothing. A person could easily move on or ignore rather than take the time to point out the obvious, which probably takes marginally less time than answering the question or omg providing a link (the horror). We are not talking about the dolts that can't read stickies. Most of the time it isn't people that oblivious. It's people who have searched and found overwhelming information and/or a question that hasn't been answered. Check for yourself put in " blistein lift" or something like that and then read all the barf that comes up.

You probably asked a question once and got it answered. Why don,t subsequent users get that benefit? Because you're tired of reading threads on a message board? That's a bit silly since that's what message boards are for. Reading. Sorry if you have to skim through some redundant questions but no ones forcing you to read them all.
 
Lol yes you hit the nail on the head. I can completely understand the other side of the coin though. Take for example a thread someone just started on TRD parts availability and fitment, come on really? I have been on one forum or anouther for almost 15 years now and this stuff happens on every one. What I really can't stand is when I have a legitimate question and I get 2 responses but the idot that posts a question that's been covered million times get 3 pages of responses. Oh well, can't fix stupid.

Anyways I think I'm gonna try the older kit and see if it fits and if not I'll send it back. The beauty of Amazon returns :)

Yes I did, it should show up sometime today. I did contact Magnaflow again and he confirmed that the two systems shared all the exact part numbers with the exception of the tail pipe. I'll post pics once I unstalled hopefully this weekend if the weather gets any better.
