MagnaFlow installed and where did my tailpipe go

Just had a muffler shop cut and weld in the 18" MagnaFlow 12256 muffler. Sounds great, I didn't take it on the HWY yet but the heavy traffic I was stuck in it sounded great.

I also had the guy move the tailpipe. The smell with the window open was getting to me.

the guy at the shop painted the tip black (high temp paint). I don't know why.. I am debating either to leave it black or sand it down.

I am happy.

I have the same one but have he pipe cut back to exit right behind the rear passenger wheel. I think that is a better location. I doubt the plastic will be an issue just hangs too low for my taste.

Exhaust pipe location

For where it's located black is good. It won't show from the rear. You may still get the exhaust coming in the back window with it there. It still dumps fumes under and behind the bumper, where they get sucked up the backside of the car due to wind draft or negative, low pressure at the back end. Have you tried driving with the back window down yet? How did it do?
Better to turn the pipe out and exit to the side, behind the wheel, as noted by someone else above. For that I'd put a chrome tip on it.

Side exit is the best way to go I've never smelled the exhaust while idle with the window down. Just get the exhaust shop to cut the plastic and I told the guy to try and tuck it as high as possible without burning anything. Hope this helps congrats on the new muffler.

I have mine cut pretty similar and have had no smell. Then again I don't drive with my window down.

I cut my pipe more for function and not getting smashed on rocks.

I was stuck in traffic for an about an hour. No smell..

For the plastic, I will trim that little think bit of plastic that hangs down. If I notice anything.

To low? Its tucked up more then a full side kick out. Also, maybe 10% of off-roading with the truck.

Chrome.. Ya no..



What I am worried about is exhaust soot on the body.

In my experience you'll have a smell after you get a muffler wielded on but it goes away after a few days up to a week.....just my .02 ¢

they are referring to the rotten egg smell not welding residue burning off

Drove it today... No smell or a very very lite hint of it..

70mph 2000PRM, you can hear it not bad at all.
if your in your mid 30's you will be happy if your in your 40's its to loud. ound:



Welding smell is already gone..
