Manual Locking Hub install

I finally had some free time to rebuild the MLH I got a while back. One was a breeze to clean up, but the other was a PITA. It was contaminated with dirt and rust. After a few hours of elbow grease and some soaking in WD-40, I was able to get it fairly clean. I'm ready to install them, if the weather permits.

My question is what position does the dial and spring lock need to be in? Or does it not matter as long as the dial turns once installed?

I don't think it matters what position it is in as long as it moves. Just look to see if it turns your CV, if so, it is working correctly.

Thanks for the replies. The weather co-operated this morning and I was able to install the hubs. After installing the hub body, I made sure the dial was in FREE position and the locking spring was in the correct position. After tightening the dial bolts, I check to make sure the dial turned easily and turned the hub to see if the CV axle was turning in the LOCKED position, and back to FREE.
