Manual shift t-cases?

All Trail \Off Road, TRD Pro and 2010- 2012 SR5 models have manual t-case lever.

But, ya you can grind the gears if your being a dummy. If your phone cord rests on the lever (steel braided) it will sing the song of the transfer case into the cab. That was my only argument without the diagram ha.

Some times mine is fussy going in and out of low. Occasionally I have to drive a few feet and go back to N before it will change without a grind.

Ohh I hate the charge cord thing.. lol

Ditto on that. Not the smoothest thing sometimes.

Just about anything leaning on it will make noise. No touch zone on the consol ha.
 
How are people grinding gears getting into 4Lo? Stop, shift to N, put in 4Lo. If it doesn't engage within a few seconds, let off the brakes and roll a touch. If you're on flat ground, put in D and roll a touch.

Are you guys trying to shift into 4Lo on the fly while moving or something?

The secret is to move the lever swiftly from hi to lo. Mine grinds bad if I try to feel it in, but not at all if I just shove it in. (that's what she said!)

Well not to be a dick but why would we entertain that argument if you where just trying to say it's electric and not mechanical. It sounds like you don't have an OR/Trail or Pro. My b wrong dude

But, to address your question I wrote "being dumb" as a reason it could happen. Like not rolling a bit. Or being a turtle throwing the lever.

Think it's different truck to truck tbh. Some people say it butter. Others need to give it the 'ol heave ho.

Also semi positive crawl control cannot be engaged prior to being in 4lo so that doesn't really ad up.

Mine is anything but easy to put into 4Hi and it grinds every time going into 4Lo. And yes I come to a complete stop, shit the tranny into Neutral and then shift the transfer case into 4Lo. It grinds more if you shift slowly, less if you just throw it in fast.

Dillusion and ||Demon|| are, in fact, 2 separate posters.
 
Occasionally, I'll screw up the shift from 4Lo to 4Hi and get caught in Transfer Case Neutral. At that point, you will just grind gears if you try to go back to 4Lo or to 4Hi. You need to shut the engine off, shift to 4Hi, then restart the engine.

Or, just remember to pull fast and hard when you want to go to 4hi.
 
smooth J-shaped motion from 4hi to 4low. No pause, no right and then up.

It doesn't have to be hard or aggressive. Just get out on the trails and use it often.... that probably helps.

But I do usually have to push someone's knee out of the way first.
 
I remember researching this when I bought my OR trim, and everyone says to be firm and swift with the level when engaging the transfer case. I slam that sucker every time now and don't even think twice. I've yet to hear any kind of grinding when going into 4hi.

Most of the people (myself included) said it’ll grind a little going into 4 low if you aren’t firm when doing it. Some haven’t had it happen.

The Limited models have a dial.
