map lights/ sunglass holder removal

Hey all, I am trying to remove the map light housing from the roof liner. I have the manual and it seems easy enough, except I cant figure out how to disengage the "s" claws. When i pull the box away from the liner I can't see the claws(or at least I don't think I do).
I really don't want to break it .

From that diagram, it looks like you grab the front (windshield side) of the lip and pull down. Once those two clips release, then you can slide the back claws right out.

Exactly, pull on the end closes to the windshield. Be sure to pull straight down, not try to pry it against the headliner. The other end will slide out afterwards.

Just curious, anyone know if there's a switched 12v wire up there?

I don't know. There is only one plug up there, and that connects the maplights, sunroof control and homelink if you have it.

Do you have an auto dimming rear view mirror from the factory by any chance? One of the wires that powers it should be a switched 12 volt source. Probe around with a meter to confirm
