dont get me wrong Iroke i have little intrest in the money i would rather people make there own stuff but some people just dont have the means to make stuff and they dont want to pay the rediculous 800$ for 100$ worth of metal.

Agreed! I love making my own things but right now I don't have the space to take on a project of that size. I also am anal and don't like the look of the bolts sticking through the fastening points and would much rather have it welded and then possibly powder-coated.

just spoke to the paint shop guy and the price to powder coat it would cost as much as the materials to build it.

Im going to start on the rear bumper this weekend.

Im still working on the center counsel.

when i built my front bumper i wanted to powder coat it but it was twice as much to paint it as i the materials were. i bought $8 worth of Rustolium and layed on there and have only needed to repaint once in 2 years. and that was partially cuz i hit a deer.
i say just spray bomb it till you can save up for a nice powder coat.

With the roof rack I have plans for one for the 1st gens. that is two piece. its has a fold down section between the cab and removable top. that way when you take the top off you still have a small rack. When I build mine it is gonna have a light bar built into the front. If anyone is interested I will dig it out and post it

Yeah I want one! Dont care about it being lockable. Just looking for a cup holder, arm rest, and switches... is that too much to ask?

ok with plastic out of the equation makes things easy.
1. I could make a aluminum diamond plate center counsel, any one like me and like to rest your arm on the center counsel? the ammo can idea is cool but not practical. being a army guy i had one for the 50 cal and it wont fit right.
2. the roof rack is no biggy let me get some aluminum together.
3. ill work on some mounts but i think a bumper would be best im currently making one for my runner so i will have a look at engineering a usable bolt on kit for fabrication of a rear bumper.


I wish you guys would have said metal for the center counsel i had bent up a bunch of abs for the tub of the counsel.

i have a 2nd gen and im very interested in a rear bumper with tire carrier let me know pleasee!

The "Rugged Trail II" console for Jeep Wranglers will fit the 1st gen 4runner but you will still have to relocate the three switches. I have found it for as little as $92.00 on eBay. It measures 27.5x12.25x8.25. It locks and has cupholders. I decided to keep mine stock for now though.
