I try to clean my MAF sensor within a week of cleaning my K&N air filter. I'm not sure about the electronic contact cleaner, but in a pinch you can use isopropyl alcohol in either 70% or 90% concentration...I'm not sure it matters which--I recently used 70% in a spray bottle and it worked just fine. Not sure if it's as effective as a dedicated MAF sensor cleaner, but it's better than a dirty sensor.

Basically any cleaner/solvent that evaporates quickly and completely without leaving a residue can be use but it's best to use a dedicated MAF cleaner if possible because it has several different solvents in it to clean the various debris and contaminates that collects on the sensor over time.

Here's quote from a website that researches such technology explaining this.

Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) Cleaning & Cleaners | Oilem - Lifting the Lid on Fuel & Oil Additive Market

"The solution is to clean the MAF at each service schedule with a designated MAF cleaner. Standard electrical contact cleaners also are effective, but make sure that they do not leave any residue. Also, bear in mind that they usually contain a single basic solvent whereas professional MAF cleaners contain a blend of multiple solvents specifically for the type of debris that needs to be removed, making the job a little easier."
