I never weighed it and probably won't since it's already up there. It's light enough for me to put it up there when I was taking measurements for brackets. My guess being somewhere in the 50-70lb range.

I really wanted to make it to this, but my rig wasn't quite done. I did meet Zach (4x4runner2002) a few days ago. He dropped by my place to give me some CVs in exchange for some fabrication work.
I go in for inspection next week, so hopefully I'll be able to cruise with some other 3rd Gens soon!

Zach actually helped me with rebuilding and swapping my CVs last week. Super cool guy.
If you ever need a hand with anything, give me a shout man, I'm just around the corner. Been looking at your build the last few days and your garage/work place seems pretty bad ass.
And not sure if you've heard of the trip up to Flagpole Knob the weekend of the 24-26th but if your 4Runner's ready, you're more than welcome to caravan with Zach and me.
If you got the text from Zach asking about someone needing some sliders welded, that was me haha.

I've been looking for DIY threads and talked to a couple local fabricators and I deemed this was the best for me.
I'm not sure about how much it'll hold but I weigh just under 200 and will be up there Friday trying to test it's limits. I can say that I can't make the thing move when grabbing it. It's super sturdy, more so than I would've thought

Roof Rack Finished-Awning Added
Finished up the mounting the roof rack today. It feels very sturdy, especially considering it's a bolt together rack. I climbed up there today and walked around, at just shy of 200 lbs, I feel comfortable up there. I will say that the standing in the middle of the cross bars did have a little give but I'll never have much weight distributed on just two cross bars in the middle. I also will be adding lock nuts to all the bolts for the cross bars.
For mounting the rack to the roof in the back, I bolted a 4 inch section of left over Unistrut to the rack, running parallel with the cross bars. I took the end caps off the factory rail system and stid T-Nuts (4 per side) in there. I then bolted the 4 inch section to those.

Looks really elegant, love it. Just one question. I think I see how you bolt the 4-inch section to the rails, just using the factory mounts and a bolt+washer - but since Unistrut has holes on one side, where do you bolt the mount to the rack? Either side of the hole being used to mount to the rails?

As far as the Gobi stuff, it's pretty easy to find plenty of opinions on it if you search.
If I had to guess, sub-70 pounds. I was able to lift it on and off the 4Runner for test fittings.
So Unistrut kind of resembles a C-Chanel. On the top of the rack and all the cross bars, the open 'C' section is facing downward. For the 4-inch sections, they're facing upward.
The inner bolt for the cross bars is 1-inch in length and goes through the cross bar and into the 4-inch section. In each of the 4-inch sections, that 1-inch bolt threads to one of These.
With the open 'C' section of the Unistrut being up, I ran the mounting bolts through the openings/holes and into the T-Nut.

So what I'm visualizing is that the lower part of the mount (the flat part of the c channel) is flush to the roof rail, and you use a short, thick bolt to attach that to the nut inside the OEM rail. Then to attach the mount to the rack, you use those spring nuts which sort of clamp inside the C channel. Sorry for getting so specific. Thanks for the help.

You'd be correct. I may end up changing the mounting as time goes on and I test the rack out more. I'll also use some of This when make new mounts to raise it up a little. Not necessary but the cross bars sit close to the roof in the middle section of the 4Runner where it has a slight dome effect.

Hey man, I hate to ask such a boring question that's likely already been answered, but what aftermarket crossbar setup are you running? Are they the Yakima Q Towers? I'm in desperate need and can't find many solid answers.

If you're talking about the set up I had before this current full length roof rack, it was Thule 50" Square Crossbars, Podium Foot Pack 460, and Fit Kit 3101.

Flagpole Knob-March 24-26, 2017
Got a few nights of camping in this weekend with Caravan-ed up to Hone Quarry Campgound with [MENTION=80933]4x4runner2002[/MENTION] and [MENTION=97491]Joerocho[/MENTION]. Got in right before dark, set up camp, and went to bed. Woke early Saturday morning and headed to Meadow Knob and Flagpole Knob, ultimately camping at Flagpole Knob. Had a good time and logged over 500 miles. MPG's on the whole trip, wheeling included was 15.97

Insurance Filed
Went out of town this weekend to visit my girlfriend at school and borrowed my mom's car as she gets much better MPGs than me. My brothers car was also out getting an inspection done so naturally, he drove mine. He drove it out to our school apartment Friday night and back home Sunday afternoon. In that day and a half, apparently someone stole 4 lug nuts off the driverside front wheel. My brother drove the 4Runner and the wheel came off. There's some body damage, a sheered lug nut stud, and damage to the wheel, rotor, and dust shield. No one was hurt, no one else was involved, and the air bags didn't deploy. The outcome could've been much worse. Decided to file insurance to make sure everything is done correctly.

Went out of town this weekend to visit my girlfriend at school and borrowed my mom's car as she gets much better MPGs than me. My brothers car was also out getting an inspection done so naturally, he drove mine. He drove it out to our school apartment Friday night and back home Sunday afternoon. In that day and a half, apparently someone stole 4 lug nuts off the driverside front wheel. My brother drove the 4Runner and the wheel came off. There's some body damage, a sheered lug nut stud, and damage to the wheel, rotor, and dust shield. No one was hurt, no one else was involved, and the air bags didn't deploy. The outcome could've been much worse. Decided to file insurance to make sure everything is done correctly.
