Drove the 4Runner the other night and right away I noticed a vibration when accelerating and ever so slightly when on cruise control. Same-old when coasting and breaking. Thinking U-Joints or a motor mount. Transmission mounts look good. Went to grease the rear drive shaft hoping it'd be a quick fix and my zerks fitting was gone. It must've sheared off when wheeling and the driveshaft made contact with the gas tank skid. Hammered a torx bit in there and unscrewed it. Threw a new one in there and greased it up. Front and rear are greased, as well of joints. The vibration has gone away a little but can still be felt. Doing some looking into what it takes to replace the u-joints.
I also took the time to pull the gas tank skid, cut it so this wouldn't happen again, and hit it with some fresh paint.

P0136 Code Cleared

I've been running a P0136 code for Bank 1 Sensor 2 O2 sensor since replacing the A/F Ratio Sensor. Hasn't bothered me too much since I could clear it with the scangauge but [MENTION=80933]4x4runner2002[/MENTION] had an extra laying around so we went ahead and replaced it. Haven't driven enough to trigger the code again but the old one looked pretty burnt out.

Gotcha. I upload mine as private so that's why mine don't do that. Oh well, at least my pictures work on Flickr...

Slowly starting to move all my pictures over there. Trying to do at least a page a day.

And yes, they have to be public for you to be able to upload them in the method stated above.

Maintenance

Oil Change done at 224,954 miles.

Have a little road/surf/camp trip planned so needed to get that out of the way. Pictures to follow.

Started transferring pictures over to Flickr as well. Hoping to have that done by next weekend.

Wire Clean Up

Didn't get any pictures from down south. Was there Saturday and Sunday and the waves didn't really start going off till Monday but I had work. Nothing worth taking pictures of for the days that I was there. Got a little surf, got to camp, and had a good time nonetheless. After a little surf at the Lighthouse in Buxton, I went to start the 4Runner and it wouldn't start. Click, nothing. Pulled the terminals and cleaned them up some and it started right up. That's the third time this year. My terminals wouldn't tighten all the way and the connections from my wires to the lugs weren't the cleanest so I figured it was finally time to clean all that crap up.
New terminals and tin plated copper lugs.

Storage Part One

Started the first phase of my storage project in the back. This was largely influenced by [MENTION=57545]4Ripcord[/MENTION]'s storage bin in his original 4Runner. This will house my 8" sub and recovery gear with the amp mounted in the factory storage cubby. The bottom houses a little ammo case but that'll be covered when I add drawers though.

Thanks! Right now, it's perfect for misc tools that don't have a place. Unfortunately, it'll have to go when I start making drawers simply because I won't be able to access it. It'll probably end up in a little cubby near the driverside wheel well.

U-Joints

Got off work last night and [MENTION=80933]4x4runner2002[/MENTION] headed over to knock out my U-Joints(Toyota PN: 04371-60060). I had been noticing a vibration when driving, especially when accelerating and that was the culprit. Noticed Here. The job took a little longer that we thought but it was a first for both of us. Also found out that pounding out one side of the joint, then cutting the side still on the inside of the yolk out with a grinder seemed to be easier than pounding both sides out to remove the caps. All in all, not a particularly hard job and it fixed the problem.
No pictures of the process because it was late and we were a bit preoccupied with finding out the best way to do it

Been doing plenty of road trips. Took it down to SE North Carolina this weekend for to catch some of the hurricane swell. Logged over 500 miles and got over 20 mpg which is always a good thing. Had a nice little whine going on, pulled the alternator once I got home and replaced it with an extra that [MENTION=80933]4x4runner2002[/MENTION] happened to have. No more whine, seems like the sound was coming from the pulley bearing. Going to start looking into the CS-144 upgrade.
Unfortunately no pictures from this weekend or the past few. Been too busy having fun. Have done the Outer Banks twice, Bethany Beach, DE once, and Wilmington in the past month. Running strong besides the alternator hiccup.
Hopefully heading up to Northern VA this weekend to pick up a color matched sport hood off a totaled 2002 Stellar Blue Pearl Sport Edition. Pictures to follow of that.

Should have given me a shout when you did those u-joints. Surely you're aware I was the foreman in a driveline shop haha. I actually took spare new parts I had sitting around and chopped a little length off of a brand new tundra shaft to build myself a new 4runner shaft.

Sport Hood

Well I found a sport hood courtesy of [MENTION=102813]SURF RUNNER[/MENTION]. The hood was about 10 miles from my school apartment and things couldn't have worked out better. I picked it up and installed it late last week. Condition is okay, I definitely need to clean it up some. I also have a bug guard laying around so I'll go ahead and install that and post some better pictures later on this week.

Damn, wish I would've thought about this. We kind of decided to do this job last second. Wasn't awful, both of our first time, but I'm sure you would've made the job a little easier. I'll be sure to keep you in mind next time.

Ashtray Switch Mount

Got rid of my mess of a switch panel on the A-Pillar from a few months ago and replaced it with this ashtray switch panel from Paranoid Fabrication. The two left will be front facing spot and flood lights, next rock lights, and furthest right will reverse lights. Overall happy with the install and new set up.
