After doing some research on what size speakers are in my 4runner I have figured out that I'm going to get 6.5" componets for the front and 4" for the rear door.

The fronts are the RCE-216, and the rears are 4" PKC-110 which come with crossovers.

Let me know what you think, I do know I have to run an amp with these I just don't know which one just yet.

Good Choice

Yeah MB make some awesome mid and high range speakers. If i hadnt of gotten the JBL upgrade i would deff go with some MB thats what i had put in my Land Cruiser and they sound crystal clear at any volume. Nice choice! put some pics when you do the instal and let us know how easy it was

Why would he definitely need an amp? I have used MB Quart speakers in the past, and as I recall they did not need much power to sound great.

Just wondering.

MB Quarts are relatively good considering the freq response & power handling. I'm also planning on getting MB Quart (components) when I upgrade my sound system. I might just upgrade from the factory speakers (JBL 10 spkrs w/6 disc) to the MB Quarts first. Then, when I have the $$$ I'll change out the head unit w/the Kenwood KVT-915DVD, outboard amps & a subwoofer in a custom DIY enclosure. If anyone know of any better component speakers, I'm open to suggestions!

I loooooove MB Quart components. Had 2 sets components/crossovers in my 325i hooked running off an old Alpine Flex4 and they sounded awesome. Real snappy, and nice and bright.....*much* cleaner than the stock JBL system in the Runner sounds. You wouldn't NEED an amp, but then you don't NEED these speakers either :D Get one, you won't regret it.

A friend had a full set of Alpine DDDrives, and they were very nice as well. But IIRC, more expensive than the MB's and not any better.

One thing to look for if you want the MB Quarts at a bargain price...is last year's model. 98% as good; 1/2 the price. You occasionally see new-old-stock on Ebay. The Q series 6.5" components are pretty pricey, the new QSD's list for close to $700/pair. I paid less than half that for a pair of QM 218.61's (last year's model) that I installed in my Infiniti. They sound really great. I used a set of MB Quart 6.5 PCE's (coaxial design; but still with seperate crossovers) for my rear doors. For my money, I don't think there are better component speakers; but Focals would be my second choice.
