Mcaz5's 01 4Runner Build

Another thing added to my never ending list, thanks Mikhail! I love your build man, black looks so good on our trucks. That and the 295s, hoping to be my next tire size.

Haha thanks man! You've done a lot of things on my never ending list as well so we'll call it even. I love the 295s. I think they're the perfect size for a DD/Wheeler without having to drop the coin for a re-gear.

Just for laughs:

Here's a pic from this past weekend. This is my buddy's 86 Pickup or what's left of it. The only body left that's still original is the hood and fenders. Cab, flooring, and roll cage were all buily by my friend. It's on 37s with a welded rear diff. He's currently saving up for a front locker. It's also got a crawl box and this was his 3rd time rolling it so the cage is pretty well built haha. He's also done a propane conversion as well. Pretty badass rig

Mcaz, are the Mini H1s a PnP kit? Or I'm I getting PnP mixed up with something else? Anyway, what I'm trying to say is did you have to dremel the stock headlights at all like BrianSD did for his projectors?
Edit: Super nice truck by the way. I was damned close to getting the Toyo ATIIs but at the last minute I went with Duratracs. How do you like them?

No they don't require the modifications that Brian did. The projectors fit right through the stock hole, however you will have to dremel off a few bumps for the projector to mount right. Not hard at all and this kit or the D2S kit is the easiest to do a retro with.

I appreciate the kind words! And I was on the fence between these tires and the Duratracs haha. I like them so far. They are heavy but other than that I have no complaints. I haven't really gotten to put them through their paces offroad yet, but onroad they are great. They also come with a 50k mile tread warranty.

I needed to pull apart the housing on my headlights to align the cutoffs and to also snug everything down just a little tighter. I figured while I was there I'd paint the housing black as well. I really love the look. It completely transforms the look of the rig.

I'll pull my good camera out one of these days and actually take some good pictures. Sorry for all of the cell phone pics

Dude, just mounted my 295s on my truck and am rubbing like mad. Did you have to do any serious surgery to get the fronts to not rub? I've got the same body lift as you, what is your ground to fender height?

Those are some sweet shots man! She's looking great!

I've got some cluck going on in my rear it sounds like. I greased up the driveshaft, but that hasn't done anything it seems. I'll try and add more when I go back home. It sounds like a metal on metal clunk. It happens when I'm accelerating, and I let off the gas pedal. It also happens sometimes when I go over speed bumps. And then there's days where I can try everything and it won't clunk at all.

What're the chances of installed a new Napa CV and it being effed up? The one I purchased rattles when I'm driving at low speeds and the last few days I've noticed a clunk from the front end when I turn the steering wheel.

Also, if this post from awhile ago is at all relevant still:

1. I had a clunking happening after I snapped one of my upper links, so if it's still happening and you haven't checked your links might want to give them a look. I also had a side to side wobble after the link got fixed and it was only noticeable when accelerating and it turned out one of my tie rods was shot, which I think fixed it... though the broken link definitely had a noticeable movement when accelerating and going over bumps or turning since the geometry wasn't working correctly. Food for thought.

2. And I think you should be fine with a new CV assuming you haven't gotten a new one. I have a Discount Tire CV (I think), and my only complaint is the outer joint housing rusted right away which was weird, otherwise no issues. People say NAPA/Discount/etc. CVs are weaker than stock and stuff, though I find that hard to believe. Obviously if you are breaking stock CVs and then go to aftermarket there is just as good a chance you'll break those too if you're pushing that hard. Food for thought too :D

Looking sweet man!

I think you also broke your thread on the previous page since I can only scroll to where you posted the video and then nothing below that...on either my iPhone or my computer lol. Also:

Went for a little adventure to this local spot I like to run. I'm sure if you've kept up with my thread you'll recognize many of the same spots. I enjoy taking different lines though and making it a little more challenging. Today the mud was slick and it made everything a little more interesting. I also wanted to get out and take some good pictures with the new projectors and some good action shots and test out the new bumpstops I finally got installed. Everything went great except that I still can't figure out my clunking. When I was wheeling today it almost sounded more like it was coming from the stop mount for the shock so I'm going to get under there soon and check everything out. I know I'm getting some driveshaft cluck but today sounded a little different.

Little bit of flex

I liked the look of this one with the background being dark and lights bright

Projectors on

Posing

And lastly a neat sequence

I don't know what the eff happened to my thread. I can't delete the video on the bottom of page 10 so I just reposted the pics here. Weird stuff
snivilous I saw your gif pic. That was pretty sweet. Now if seems to have disappeared haha

You said you were getting bumbstops from a junkyard what did you end up installing?

They're stock bumpstops from a 90s Chevy Blazer. I just ended up buying a set from a member on here that had an extra set. There's a thread about it floating around on the forums somewhere

Haha your thread is self destructing!

Also in one of my various posts that kept disappearing, I mentioned that if you still have that clunking in the rear check your links. When I broke one of my upper links the axle felt like it was shifting and would clunk when accelerating and then letting off the gas or speed bumps or turning since the axle wasn't properly constrained with the link broken. Food for thought. Also, if you haven't replaced the CV I'm sure NAPA/O'Reilly/etc. would work fine, I haven't had any issues with mine except the outer joint housing started rusting really fast but its held up fine. Trucks looking beast bro!

Okay I think I was able to fix the thread through Tapatalk. Everything seems to be back to normal

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, my threads been effing up.

I had to pound the living hell out of my firewalls and I still rub them at full flex. I believe there's a few pictures on the previous pages. I also had to trim the inside of the fender flares. I did what Dirtco did in this beginning of his thread when he was prepping for 35s.

My ground to fender are as follows:
Left front- 39"
Right front-39 1/4"

And hub to fender:
Left front-23 1/4"
Right front 23 1/2"

And believe it or not I actually rub more on the right side. I believe it is due to my caster measurements. That side is closer to the fender then my left side.

Edit: I lied, no pics. I can snag a few for you tomorrow if you'd like. I basically just looked at the spots it rubbed, took the tire off and beat the living hell out of the firewall area until I was satisfied haha.

I didn't even check the upper links. I'll check those out tomorrow.

I ended up getting a New CV from Napa with the lifetime warranty. It actually clicks at low speeds like the old ones do when they go out. My plan is to take my other current CV with a slight leak from the boot to Napa and get a warranty claim out of then, then take my current Napa one back and say the one the gave my started clicking. I'm hoping maybe it will work haha

Trying to repost the video that started all this nonsense

I haven't really been able to be as active as I'd like recently due to college and baseball. I also have narcolepsy so when I'm not busy with the previous two, I'm normally sleeping haha.

Recently rolled over 125k. This month will also mark the 3rd year of ownership of the rig.

And a snow pic from the recent snow storms of the south. Not really anything else exciting going on. Hopefully this summer I'll finally be able to get my sliders welded on that I've had sitting in the garage for 8 months now. Also I think I may have developed a small exhaust leak. Exhaust is noticeably louder when I get on the throttle. It sounds normal though at regular driving. Sounds like I installed an aftermarket exhaust when I punch it now though haha

Your Build looks great man! love the bumper, love the wheels, got a quick question- What % window tint do you have?
