Member Opinions Wanted RE: Tires

Hey Everybody, need some advice here. I have a 03, V8, SE, 4x4. I bought it with 23k on it in March for 25K. The GM of the dealer is a good friend and I asked for new tires and he said okay. The factory dunlops looked horrible. I got 265/70R17 Toyo Open Country Radials. Not A/T's. They ride great, no highway noise, great in wet weather.

I am strongly considering going back to the 265/65/17's and getting the Revo's. I sell land so I off road some, but don't need 3 ply side walls and would like to go back to stock size so the speedo, odometer are correct. Now I'm about 3 mph fast at 70.

My spare is the original, still blue on the lettering. I was going to use the $60 rebate at Costco that is about to expire.

My trip cpu is always wrong which is expected. Avg 14-15 mpg on mixed highway/city driving. Drive about 70 miles a day.

Am I all wet? Am I being paranoid? Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

go for it.

265/70/17 is preferred really because they fill up th wheel wells better, have more selection and sizes, and may be had in LT load.

265/65/17 is factory sized and in Revo will give better handling than the Dunflops without the additional weight of a heavier tire, original sidewall height for optimal cornering, and speedometer calibration.

FYI the costco rebate was over on Sunday 26 June.

I know this because I ordered a set of 265/70/17 Revos before the rebate expired!

Go with the 70 series revos, who cares about the speedo?!

I saw a commercial for that tire and it really caught my attention. I would love to see how they compare to the Revos. Maybe when my Revos wear out in 5 years I will replace them with those!

saaggie, as for what tire you should go with, I decided to keep it to factory specs and went with the 65. I didn't want to mess around with the Speedo and I don't do serious offroading to need a bigger tire. It all depends what you are using the truck for. Just so you know, when I was on the market for tires, the 65's cost more than the 70's. That was surprising too me.

Been reading and getting quite a bit of feedback on the
Dunlops. My GX came with them From comments and
research the OEM rate at 300 tread life and the
replacements rate at 500. Be interesting to know if
the replacement hold up better than the OEM.

I took a policy out with Discount Tire and the plan
is to replace the Dunlops with Michelins LTX's as
problems come up with the factory tires. Dunlops
are $141 per tire, so would pay the difference to
upgrade.

With the ABS/TRAC/VSC it is important to have the same sized spare tire. I plan to get 70s. I do a 5 wheel rotation, will buy 5 tires.


The stock Dunlops are 36 lbs. Any good tire is going to weigh more.

I want the Wranglers but they don't come in 265/65/17 yet and I don't want to upsize. Hopefully they will add this tire size to the lineup soon.
