Metal Tech or ShrockWorks Sliders ????

Each of my mounting plates came with a bolt on the top and bottom. The bottom bolt is just not visible in that picture.

I am not sure how to tag people in posts but I talked about this issue with Jono.ful, and he said he uses the sliders as a jacking point all the time...He just learned to deal with the bending.

I'm having a difficult time believing your sliders only had a single bolt at the top, is it just the angle of that photo?

Wow so if you use the OPOR sliders are jacking point. And they bend. Wouldnt that mean they'll bend when your on top of a rock and being supported by the slider.

Wow, this is insane! I have never seen any sliders bend that much while on a high lift jack. I can see in the photo that you show the tabs that have been welded on with the self tapping screws going into the bottom of the frame, that you do have the lower slider frame mount bolts installed. From the photo that you took showing the frame mounts bent away from the frame, it looks like the mounts bent away from these bolts in the opposite direction, which makes sense to me if the mounting plates were not strong enough to take the stress.

This is shocking... I think I am back to considering White Knuckle sliders or the long ass wait for the Shrockworks.

I expected that the mounting plates had L shape and get bolted to the vertical(side) and horizontal (bottom) section of the frame. Unless I am missing something in the photos, those sliders only have a single. At least thats how my BudBuilts are on the rear mounts

I really the like the fitment of the OPOR sliders. If they only need a tab to be welded on. Maybe I can ask my buddy to modify these and welds some tabs on there. He should be able to do these quickly. He does build roll cages for race cars.

Yea I agree, that would definitely fix the issue that cmitch is experiencing. To me it says a lot that MT recommended the same fix. That is, the lower tabs below the frame rail and the self tapping screws.

There are lots of slider designs out there and most work well. Sounds like these need a little help. This frustrates me as I am looking for sliders that tuck nicely up to the rocker panels and do not stick out too far from the body of the 4Runner. These looked to meet my requirements. However, they must be able to easily hold up when raising the vehicle with a high lift. One of the most basic tests of a slider in my opinion.

I have the MT sliders on my '14. Very well built. No problem holding weight of truck. I've put them to use off-road and recommend them unconditionally.

I haven't used the OPORs or SW so I can't offer first hand comparison. Do note that the type/strength of metal varies product to product.

I just got my OPOR sliders in; they're off at the local powder coating shop. Very disappointed to hear they are a bit on the flimsy side. Might have been better off with the Budbuilts (my first instinct)...

MT Trail Sliders

Just got my sliders in and will be installing them tomorrow. Question for those with KDSS. Fit up on the drivers side looks like I will have to pull out the hydraulic lines for the KDSS to get the mounting brackets underneath them. Pulling out by hand, even with a breaker bar, it's difficult to see the lines coming off the 1/4" required to get the cracked up to the frame. Can those of you who have mounted them confirm that I'm going the right direction (no directions in the box). I am being cautious because of the cost and difficulty in servicing the KDSS system if I crack a fitting. Thanks in advance!

Yep, I had to pull the KDSS lines out a bit. They are stiff lines but I was able to slide the mounting bracket underneath them without any damage.

I didn't install MT sliders but I did have to play with KDSS. My Demello sliders acted as a spacer behind the main KDSS unit, and once this was loosened up the KDSS lines moved without a problem. You might have to put spacers behind that KDSS unit to accommodate the new positioning and make sure you aren't pre-stressing anything depending upon how you're setup.

I dig my Shrockworks sliders and get regular compliments. Feel good about the extra protection, even though I'm not off road often.

Just know that your pant legs will get dirty, even with long legs.

Install was a bit of a pain, but not terrible.

Worth it.

Does any one know exactly what is meant with powder coating the inside? Does that mean full 100% coverage of every nook and cranny, or a little bit of the inside gets coated.

I dont know for sure. But have seen there products and they are 1st class quality. Like otheres they are a small shop so if you need immediate responses an te suc look elsewhere. Takes them usualy to the end of the day to respond or the next day, but O guess that is theprice to pay be becoming popular as what happened with everyone mentiond here includong Demello.

The main rails on their sliders are not box or round tube like most others. They are actually a flat sheet of steel bent into a C-channel and internally braced. The back side is not closed in, so they are completely powder coated. This photo is of their 80 series Land Cruiser model but it's the same concept. I had the 80 series ones and they were solid. I was also worried about rust inside the slider but the powder coating held up really well to winter sand and salt.

Not going to read through the whole thread but I went with the true Metaltech (not the OPOR) sliders. These things are bulletproof. I was only the second set they had made for my model (I guess 99.9% of the people go with the cheaper OPOR). Well worth the wait and the money.

That said, both Shrockworks and Metaltech build great product.

That said, both Shrockworks and Metaltech build great product.

Well got the metal tech trail sliders installed in about an hour and a half. I think it took longer to tap out the frame bolt holes (just to clean out paint and minor corrosion) than it did to bolt up the sliders. The tip for loosening up the KDSS pump was a good one. My wife helped bolt everything up and now says that the truck needs a lift! I've got the RCI plates going on next weekend when I can get on the lift. Let me know what kind of pictures you guys want to see and I'll do my best to upload them after the RCIs go on.

Just Installed MT Sliders

I just put mine on today! Super easy install, these things are built tough and pretty darn heavy. Only problem I ran into was that I was short 2 bolts and 2 washers. Cell phone pics only for now, will be taking more and posting more later. If there is anything anyone wants to specifically see, let me know.
