Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ radial???

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ radial tires. The stock dunlops are about cashed on my 2010 trail. I've done the forum search and can't seem to pull up anything, especially with regards to 5th gen. Just wondering how they handle on/off road and any reliability issues.
I'm looking at stock size and also considering the usual (at ko, duratrac, toyo) and my usage will be 90% on road.

I can't get your link to open up to a tire (just goes to the tire discount page). Regardless, I have had two sets of the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. They are good tires, great wear characteristics for an agressive AT, very good wet/dry traction on road. Off road they are an extremely tough tire - very resistant to cuts, chunking and punctures. In mud they do OK - they have an aggressive look, but they are really just OK.

They have also been discontinued! I have had two sets of ATZ's and now two sets of MTZ's. I will say all the same good things about the MTZ's as the ATZ's. The MTZ's are far superior off-road, esp. muddy conditions. Also the MTZ's are quieter as they wear - WHAT? Yep! The ATZ's have a tendency to get real noisy when they get past about 25k miles - I think that's why they were discontinued.

Mickey Thompson replaced them with ATZP3:

Smaller tread blocks, supposedly dramatically reduce tread block slap and are supposed to be much quieter (haven't tried for myself).

My only problem is if you lose one it's a little tougher to find. I'd recommend something from one of the big manufactures. I like the coopers for more street and duratracs for more trail. I chose right in the middle with bfg TA KOs. I've lost too many tires to have to be looking for a slightly harder to find tire especially while in remote areas.

The new ATZ P3 is a fantastic tire. Cooper does offer a similar tire Same carcass differently styled.
I would recommend the P3 any day.

It's certainly an aggressive LOOKING all terrain, which is what I'm going for. The mtz looks amazing, but i'm worried about it's on road manners compared to an AT tire.

Yep - those are them! I ran two sets of the E-rated ATZ's on my Tacomas before swapping to the MTZ's. I'm running the MTZ's on my '12 Tacoma and my wifes's '13 4Runner. Road manners are excellent! I would buy the MTZ's over the ATZ's even if you were just looking for an aggressive all terrain. The MTZ's are 98% as good on the street, quieter (slightly) and much better Off road.

The new ATZ P3's have my attention, but honestly, I'm so pleased with the road manners of the MTZ's I see no need to switch.

There's plenty of places to get Mickey Thompson's from. Hell I can order them from my amazon prime account and get free shipping. I ran a set of ATZ's and they were great. I'm running MTZ's now but the ATZ is fantastic.

Do you think it's an availability thing why more people don't run them? Or just brand loyalty?

Last quick question…any issues with either tire in wet weather on the highway? Here in the cincinnati area, is seems like the weather changes every half hour.

I think the main reason more people don't run them is that they are expensive. In my opinion they are a good value - you get a lot for your money, but they aren't inexpensive to purchase. My MTZ's have been great in the rain - we get a lot here also!

Not a snow tire, but did surprisingly well in the snow/ice for me this past Thanksgiving:

Both sets of my Mickey's perform great in the rain. We get a lot down here in FL and it was a huge factor when picking my tires. Not too many MTs out there that have as much sipping as the MTZ.
 
I have nothing but good things to say about my ATZ's. They have very good manners on the pavement, and they'll walk right through everything I've put them through off-road as well(and I'm usually following guys with MTZ's, MTR's and KM2's). They've been very good on the snow and ice for two winters now, so I'm pleasantly surprised there, and they don't seem to have any issues with wet pavement at all.

As an added bonus, they look absolutely awesome and not quite so out of place on a 5th gen as the MTZ's. Just a great all around combination for my 5th gen so far. Side note, the spare fits perfectly underneath.
As [MENTION=96409]Canazes9[/MENTION] mentioned, they do tend to get a bit louder after a while, but that's true of lots of tires, particularly the DuraTrac that everyone seems to like to run.
If you are more in to mud, I'd have to say the MTZ's would be a much better choice. If you like to stick to the rocks and trail and more technical off camber stuff, the ATZ has proven itself to compare very well in all regards to the MTZ in my experience, although the extra side lug on the MTZ will no doubt grab you more traction in some situations.

Overall, couldn't be happier with my purchase.

As a side note, a friend just installed some of the new P3's on his Tacoma in 305 70 R18 and they are absolutely amazing tires; probably my next choice for the 5th gen.

I have about 6-7K on them now, and I'm still just as happy with them. The do great in the rain (I haven't had any issues at all), and they did great a few weeks ago with the ice we had here in Atlanta.

I've always liked BFG AT's (have had 3 sets), but I was looking for something different. The MT ATZ's hit the spot.
