i got a 1996 Toyota 4runner base 5 speed 4x4... paid 1500 it had 145,000 mi now has 170,000

lower ball joints



the day i got her home

The first thing i did was paint the front grill it was really bad

i didn't like the gray so it went to black. i also did the front bumper.

then i had to get a new set of rims.. i hated the ones that came on it

then the guy i got it from put a head unit in it but it was old and didn't work so I got this one and it was a nightmare to put in (he cut the factory plug off.

I have pretty much the identical truck so I'm interested to see what you'll do to it. All I've got planned so far is the Tundra Brake upgrade (199mm).

"A spark plug shorted by excessive oil entering the combustion chamber is shown below. This is often caused by piston rings or cylinder walls that are badly worn. Oil may also be pulled into the chamber because of excessive clearance in the valve stem guides, or badly worn valve stem seals. If the PCV valve is plugged or inoperative, it can cause a buildup of crankcase pressure. This condition can force oil and oil vapors past the rings and valve guides into the combustion chamber."

I would start with replacing the PCV valve.

Also run 1/2 qt ATF in the engine oil for 100 miles then change the oil and filter. This will clean gunk out of the engine. Maybe clean the valve guides and loosen stuck piston rings.

I run restore Restore USA - Engine Restorer in my high mileage engines.

so this past weekend I got to do some work to my truck i re did the rear bumper i got new bumper ends from a member on this forum (thanks for the help)... i also got the rocker panels and front bumper rock guarded

so here are some pics of what i did
