Mikey's Build Thread...

Thanks again Mike! You're going to love the setup.

btw- There is still time folks. Now is the time to get a Gobi if you ever planned on it. It's definitely worth the savings.

Looks good Mike!! Looking good. You going to beat me to the SR40? haha.

Also liking the devil horn yota logo. Get it from the guy over on TW?

Yeah, I am still waiting for the one I originally ordered, he has sent it to the wrong address twice now. I am waiting for a red anodized with clear coat.

Because it's sexy...

Merry Christmas.

You're crazy for coining out that and cutting it up before install even happens. Forgive me if I missed it, but have you gotten it put on yet?? :hungry:

Yes sir it is on. When I got the first muffler put on the guy hacked up the pipes pretty good so I wanted to get a catback to replace all of it.

Very happy with my choice. The truck has a little tone and is not obnoxious. The rattle is gone to since all of the hanger locations are being used too.

I gotcha. So you like it alot better then the magnaflow? Did you have the shorter 18" (iirc) version?

Where did you end up picking it up at? Straight from Borla?

Thanks

I had a 14" Magnaflow which was way to small. I like the Borla much better because it is quiet but stilk has a little bit of sound. I am sure it will get a tad louder after some miles are on it. The Magnaflow was just too loud and had a lot of drone on the freeways. Plus it was rattling like crazy since the rear bumper removed the last hanger.

Picked the Borla up from 4 Wheel Parts.

Trying decide on a spot to mount the face to my HAM. So far this is where I like it the best.

Couple of problems I see, one it is right next to a cup holder and two this spot would make it difficult to remove the face plate to stop potential thieves.

Trying to get everyone's opinion on this spot.

I do still have a flex mount that I could use. I am just trying to make the install look as clean as possible.

Hmm....I like the spot but I have to agree I am not so sure how comfortable I'd be putting it right next to an open beverage in a moving vehicle :)

Could you squeeze it into the little cubby hole directly in front of the center console? I test fitted my scan gauge there and the visibility of the screen is decent from the seated position, but constantly reaching the buttons might be a pain from the drivers seat. I've never used a ham radio before so I am not sure if you need to press those buttons frequently or not.

Another idea is, could you use the flex mount and mount the base to that coin holder slot (not sure what it's called) direct in front of the shifter and behind the front cup holder and basically have it floating from that spot?

Maybe in the glovebox? Not incredibly convenient, but it may be ok depending on how often you use it.

Glovebox wont work. But it might end up in there when I stow it.

Going to try and get everything wired tomorrow minus mounting the face plate. Plus going to try and wire my license plate lights tomorrow.

:bump:
