Mikey's Build Thread...

Can you possibly let me know how well the tundra rear Fox Shox work out also what is the part number for them?

So far I am very happy with the Icon Overland springs and DSCs. The ride is smooth and can be tuned, which I need to get on the trails to do the high speed stuff.

The Tundra part number is Fox 883-26-006 if I remember correctly. I ordered mine through All Pro Offroad (as the front kit too).

Thank you!

I'm going to be going with the DSC next and as I'm sure you know they don't make them for the rears of the 5th gen.

They do make the DSCs for the 5th Gens but they are for up to 2" lift or in reality stock length. These are "extended travel" compared to those. These had to be tweaked to work, new lower mount and the reservoir needed to be rotated.

Ah good to know. And yes, sorry, for the extended travel they are not an option.

Ok so today (and yesterday) was fender trimming day. Since it sounds like fenders with a flare and rise are still a no go I decided to take my rubbing in my own hands.

The reason. Plastic trim popped off.

Top of the wheel well. Not much rub but enough for me to trim.

Rough idea where to cut.

Took about an inch off.

Put the trim back on and took a little off that too.

And the final look.

I am very happy with the outcome. Now to see if I still rub. The passenger side will get done when I order the snorkel, need to be able to line it up.

Ouch, that had to be a painful start. Hope you had a cold one when you were done.

Wasn't as bad as I thought. Probably because I saw the rust when I popped the trim off. The new orange and blue tabs were the painful part. $$$$$

You need to get active, Slick Rick and Deer Valley were a blast. I will be posting some pics tomorrow.

Haha. I know. This whole house buying thing is getting in the way. Don’t loose faith in me yet.

Can’t wait to see the photos.

I don't envy you buying a house right now, my brother's going through this as well. Nothing like calling a place home though, goodluck with the purchase.

This past weekend a couple of the guys and I headed to Death Valley to do a little exploring. We had no plan other then to see some neat stuff, explore a mine or two, get the trucks dirty, and drink some beer while eating and talking trucks and life. I must say this was an awesome trip and I can’t wait to go back again.

The trip went pretty smooth to say the least. I did have my power steering begin to leak some time on Saturday. Luckily the local gas station had some power steering fluid. So I grabbed three bottles and hoped for the best. Then while going through Titus Canyon I began to have my rear suspension bottom out HARD! I knew right away that my shock was hitting the Icon shin guards. A quick stop revealed I was right. So off the shin guards came and onward with the exploring.

On to some pictures.

First morning view, looking over Alabama Hills.

Stopped at the first miner’s cabin which you could camp at. Pretty cool they have these to get out of the elements.

Then we moved on and climbed a mountain to a mine. We almost made it to the top. What incredible views.

The house actually had a pool. In Death Valley! Sorry no photo of the pool.

Titus Canyon. This place is mind blowing. If you can get there GO. It’s sooooo cool. Pictures don’t do justice of the beauty.

Flying down these roads kicking up rocks can be bad. Just bending back a little could have been bad if I didn’t know my truck. I will not run these again as I could see that the rubbed the shock body and the shocks bottom on them at full compression as well (before bending).

Nice pics. I was out in DV last weekend, too. Probably nearly crossed paths. I almost did Titus on Saturday, but had to put it off for next time.
