Mileage for v8 03 owners

Just curious ... of the people that currently own the v8 03 model, how many miles have you put on the truck and how has it been holding up?

The V8 mileage has been good, computer says 20-24mpg and the actual figures I do are about 17, that with only 3 tanks so far with a mix of city/highway.

The truck is tight no problems
 
2800 miles now and no problems what so ever.

couldn't get smoother than this! :)

gas milage on the other than is well... it's no civic! :D

The main part that concerns me is the new tranny. The main reason for the question is because I currently have a Acura CL-S, and I haven't experienced it yet, but there have been a number of TL/CL, as well as Honda Accord and Odessey, owners that have had the transmission fail (some while driving at highway speeds).

no car washes that you trust up there? gotta get that road grime and salt off, ya know :p

With just under 2k mi on mine in the past month, I'm averaging 15-16 mpg with a fair blend of city and highway driving. The mileage computer is useless for anything but outside temperature.

Acura CL Type S Transmission

I was a victim of this. My 2001 3.2 CL Type S started to have transmission problems last summer at around 60k miles! It was if an invisible foot was pressing down on a non-existant clutch pedal at random. I would be driving down the highway at 85mph and suddenly brrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaa! Transmission would disengage and the engine would rev to redline.

Ended up needing the entire transmission replaced. Car is now up around 85k mi and we are very aware that another problem could arise within the next few years. Not the bulletproof reliability I had been expecting from a Honda.

Fortunately, you are OK, after the tranny failed on you. Actually, I am surprised that you kept the car. I'm looking to get rid of it when I decide on what to get.

no, i trust the car washes...but its been less than 15 degrees for so long...i washed it when i went home this past weekend because it was about 36 one day, but i just think its too cold to take it to the car wash right now, on average its less than 10 degrees each day. I'm almost tempted to drive home this weekend just to get it washed near home. I drive back the other night and it started snowing, so it was a horrible dirty ride back up here.. :(
 
2003 v8 Sport Edition...Galactic gray

I traded in my 2000 Nissan Xterra 3-pack 4x4 last november...

i loved Xterra..but 4runner is a kick ass truck...
tranny works great...
3,000 miles... gas mileage is around what i was getting from Xterra..so no gripe on that one...
and i do buy plus and once a month premium gas..

so far so good:)

I had a Pathfinder and got the 4Runner cause it is a kickass truck;) glad Im not the only one who thinks that.

Where you on 4x4parts.com cause damn they where not to happy when I told them I got a Toyota, a little to Nissan Biase:D

You got pics of your camera cause that is what I need, maybe I can rig it to work through my Nav screen
 
well..i dont have a digital camera yet...so sorry about being able to post the pics...

i bought a wireless camera...

it is a simple set up...

2 inch lilliput color tv...
Radio /AV receiver...
and wireless camera

one multiple cigarette lighter adapters...i will change the adptor since i have found a one that has individual switches for each socket...which will enable me to turn the camera on or off etc...

i might go with black and white camera as the one i have wont allow me to add different lences...

i guess another trip to Hong Kong will take care of that!!

Just have to gloat a bit -- my last fill-up, I got 19.88 mpg on my V6 -- mostly city driving!! ;) On the highway I have gotten as high as 21.9 mpg.

All tanks have been 87 octane.
 
I've been averaging around 19 mpg with mixed city and highway driving. My baby needs a bath too!

We're doing a local move now so the great amount of cargo room is coming in very handily.

i have a 2003 v8 sport (Dark blue). i get about 16-17 in mostly city driving. i took it on a road trip last week and did get as high as 20.4 on the highway.

traded in my 97 4runner sr5 on the new one. the new ones are very nice trucks
