Ya, plus we go out to my buddies a lot in Ladoga, and it gets dark as hell out there. Trying to keep from hitting a deer or coyote. For the price, I'm happy with them and the warranty they come with. If you end up getting new one let me know and I'll help you throw on a set.

Been a while since an update in here!
Now that I'm finished with grad school, and my wife is finished with nursing school, I now have more free time and extra money!
Got a few plans for the future, a lot of preventative maintenance, and some power additions. Just finished adding a roll bar from a first gen. I know it won't do much in a roll over, but i do plan on using it to mount a few items.

Jmildoc helped me cut the legs down and reweld them.

Well I haven't done much to it in 6 months except change the oil and wash it! You're the one always doing something to yours.

Well like I said the other day, "if you didnt live so far away then we would be able to work on them both together more often."

BTW, need your help with a speaker issue, one of mine isnt working, also blew that stupid fuse again. UGH:doh:

I can literally be at your house in 2 minutes...

And you must have a grounding issue or something if you keep blowing fuses. Have you pulled the radio out to make sure no wires are touching? If they're close, and you hit a bump, it may create contact between two wires and blow that fuse.

That could be why the speaker isn't working as well.

Thanks Fightman...figured most everyone goes black or grey with their bar, may as well try something different. I'm starting the process of the new color scheme, so I'm "whiting" out some more parts in the future.

Not much lately to report on...did take her "camping" last night though. The marina where the family boat is had an End of Summer Luau. Figured we'd be drinking heavily, so we decided to just sleep in back of the 4Runner!

Found a nice quiet spot...

Not a huge update, but I'm adding it for my records. I changed out the rear u-joint today. I had a slight vibrations for a while, then a couple days ago it started making a pretty bad scraping noise, getting worse the faster I went.
took about an hr...the vibrations and noise are now gone..much better!

Another sound upgrade. I got a nice component speaker system for Christmas. It's the Rockford Fosgate Prime series system. Although the stock speakers sounded decent, these blow them out of the water.
Pretty easy install. Hardest part was getting the old speaker off the stock mount...it was siliconed together and damn hard to get apart.

I had to cut the stock tweeter housing and dremel it out a little wider for the new part. It actually mounts to the sail panel, not the door like the stock tweeter. Plus it's directional, and I can angle it to achieve the best sound.


I've got the new woofer in the door set for 100hz, with my sub getting everything lower than that. It's nice having a dedicated speaker for the mids. And the new tweeters handle the highs really well.

I also redid my sub under my seat. I turned it 180*, cleaned up the wiring, and dialed it in with the new components. Overall, I'm very happy with the entire setup. Great sound without spending too much money.

Also added an "Oh Sh*t" handle above the door on the driver side...still wondering why that had the threaded holes for one, but didn't install one.

The holes are already there under the headliner :biggrin2:
All you need to do is screw it into place.
