1999 & 2000 Cali auto, 2WD/4WD V6; Front: 234-9002

Thanks - you really know your stuff.

This is what it said under my hood top left.
Engine Family XTYXT03, 4 GXS
SIF, A/F S, TWC (2), HO2S

Not sure about HO2S (2) - Didn't see the listing with parenthese (2).

I've attached a photo. Hopefully it will show up for you to review. :thanks:

Look what I wrote. The HO2S (2) is for the Federal, which has 2 Heated Oxygen Sensors and NO A/F. The Cali. has ONE A/F Sensor and ONE HO2S, so no (2) for you.

Yours is beyond doubt a Cali: One Air/Fuel Sensor, Two Three-Way Cats, One Heated Oxygen Sensor.

That was it! I replace the Air/Fuel Sensor. All is back to normal. No more check engine light. Just in time for my next smog test only check. Thank you!

I myself also came across same problem I had the motor rebuilt with the first 100 break in miles cel came on miss fire po300 po301 po302 po303 every cylinder misfire changed all new plugs wires coils and again it went on about 40 miles I took to a shop had valves readjusted then off i went 45 miles and cel i changed all new injectors and here again 40 miles cel now I'm just getting po301 so i swapped the coils around as well as plugs keeps my fingers crossed

Low compression in cylinder #1 and #3

Hi guys,
I have a 2002 SR5 with 245k miles on it. I have taken very good care of it the last 5 years and love it to pieces. two days ago the engine light turned on and i had i took at by two different shops. Original diagnoses was just the need for ignition coil, wires and spark plugs. Second place found that #1 cylinder had low compression at 100psi and #3 at 180psi.

I know that what needs to be done is an expensive fix and I was told it would not be worth it. Im having a hard time with this one because I have not noticed any issues in the way that the car has been running. It just made it through a long drive with no sign of problems.

I just need an opinion on if its worth investing the amount of money into this car with the amount of miles on it or if it is time to let go...anything helps!

thanks

you get it resolved? am in the same exact situation. rebuilt engine. p0301 after I drove it back from the shop. put new plugs, new coil packs, new plug wires, and new injectors. all oem. still get same misfire code.

Sounds like you need to do a compression check

What ever shop did the engine rebuild should trouble shoot it for you.

well when the shop (who did the rebuild) called me about the oil pressure being 5psi at idle @ operating temp and was in a quandary over it ... I said the FSM says it should be at 4.3+ ... silence ... then relief. lolz. good guys but they might not know the 5VZ.

I can hear a faint rod knock (maybe main?) when I give it a little rpm. @ idle sounds great. injector pulsing / getting signals. new cam sensor. etc. so something is going on with the build that is more specific to the 5VZ that didn't get addressed.

Seems you have a better understanding of whats going on then the shop
