Mix and match lift Toytec coilovers, 891 coils(rear), Bilsteins 5100s? (rear shock).
I have been looking to do this for a long time now. I have read a ton on the various lift options pros and cons. I am looking to build a solid set up the first time around. My 4runner is my DD, but I want to be able to hit the trails. I am not really into climbing around on rocks or anything too crazy. Yet. But I have been researching a collection of parts for my lift.
I am currently running 265 /75/16 tires for now. So this is a consideration that I have been trying to take into account. Initially, I liked the SS 1.2 kit, but as time went by and I researched more options and people's accounts, I started to steer away due to overall height in the rear, and lack of adjustability without coilovers up front. That, and 265/75/16 would look pretty small with that lift. I will be running an AOR front bumper, and hopefully a winch down the road.
I am planning on going the 891 route for rear coils. I have read that matched with a non OME shock would offer a better ride. I am thinking of using a Bilstein 5100 series unless there is something better.
Up front, I am thinking Toytec Boss coilovers, maybe something different, but the Boss CO looks pretty nice.
Then I would try to fill in things like drop diff, adjustable panhard, Ebrake bracket with SS parts.
I am trying to keep this a flexible lift. One that will work for both DD, and trails. And one that works for the size tires I am running now, as well as being able to accommodate maybe a larger tire down the road. All this while being sturdy enough to haul things around and not sag.
What shocks are you guys running with your 891s?
Will running 265/75/16s for now make much of a difference in my shock selection?
Thanks for reading.
