Moab 04/2013

We spent a week in Moab from April 7 - 15th running Porcupine Rim, Hell's Revenge, Poison Spider & Elephant Hill. I had some CEL issues so took a day off and worked on our "new to us" camper getting stuff working. The 26 degree night convinced me to work of the furnace. Followed this day with a visit to Arches for the day then moved on to Dome Plateau for the next 2 days when it was just my wife and myself still in Moab. The 2nd day in Dome Plateau was interesting and proof that it's easy to get lost in the maze of unmarked roads in there.

Last, the weather turned bad on our drive back to Denver with a lot of snow closing the high passes with accidents galore. We had to detour to make it home so our 6 hour drive ended up taking 11 hours of crappy driving. The pic below shows the snow buildup on the front of the trailer when we final got home.

I was a bit concerned about the snow and rain on slickrock but it was like it was dry as a bone. Very cool, very fun!

I'll be in MOAB this weekend and I have a 2006 4runner that is lifted about 2 inches all the way around. I have the BFG A/T 265/70/17 on there. Do you think I can make it up Elephant hill without problems? Also, did you have any issues making it through the narrow part?

Heh, define "problems". You'll make it, but depending on your skill and your aversion to body damage, you may want sliders. You'll have no problem in the Narrows, though.

You should be fine paweliana, You might have some front and rear bumper dragging but that's about all. I can only think of one person I know that got any body damage and that was because he didn't pay attention in the areas where you have to back up.

I had this samequestion! We are planning a trip and I wanted to kno if these were good trails for people who have never benn to moab before.
