Can anyone think of a mod idea I should do while I have easy access to certain components while my double din CD player is removed? I have some down time with no head unit until I can get it exchanged for one that works.

What about that tacoma antenna swap. Do I need to run a new wire or is my power antenna wire just a plug in/splice in for the tacoma one?

Takes like 3 minutes to take the radio and center bezel off, ive done it in a parking lot at night. I reccomend the 99+ center console swap. Although you dont need to remove any of that to change the console.

I want to figure out a way to keep my drinks in that pull out drink holder. I like the fact the ac keeps my drinks cool if I can figure out how to keep them in the holder I'll be fine.
I have a big open hole in the dash right now to work with so I'm wondering what (if any) mod could be done now since I have a few days before I get the new head unit. It does look simple to take apart but I'd rather button it up and leave it alone after installing my radio back in so doing a mod before hand would be ideal.

Are you putting in another double DIN radio?
Do you already have a CB? If no then now might be the time for either mounting option
A) For Single DIN head unit- Mount a Cobra 18WSX underneath the Radio Head Unit as the CB is DIN size and has forward facing speaker. I did this option, down side- no PA function and have to stick with Single DIN head units
B) For Double DIN head Unit- Mount Either a Cobra 19 or Uniden 510 where the factory ashtray goes. This is nice if you don't use the ashtray and both of those models have the PA feature. However bottom firing speaker so an external speaker is recommended.
Another mod would be LED light conversion for instrument lights.

Another option that I found after posting is adding additional 12V accessory outlets. Was on YT and not here so might want to check into that. The ashtray Mod is written up on several sites if you search and one you should be familiar with from your Cruiser days is Slee off-road website.

If I could ever figure out EXACTLY what bulbs to put in my 2001 I would be switching out all of those. I researched it awhile back and there is a pretty extensive thread here about it....easy stuff I just could never get straight answers on what to order (T1, 2, or 3, etc).
I also want to change out all of the interior dome lights, etc....but never figured out what size lights those are....
And the DDM lights.....lots of stuff to do!

I did the domes in my landcruiser. I still have them but unfortunately they don't fit the 4runner.

It holds them but just crooked as hell and looks like they could topple out at any moment....cans would be fine but I rarely drink out of a can anymore.

they have in'nout in Cali, Nevada and Arizona...
thats 3 states... and I had it 3 times in 2 days last week! was hoping you had some free time to get together, posted up on facebook....
well, now that I got off topic completely, lets get back on topic by saying that maybe if you run over to a yota yard you might find a cupholder from an old 4runner thats still in good shape, the newer/better shape their in, the better they hold the In'n'out cups!

and this comes with a super small box you can put under your seat or maybe even behind the dash... its much more compact than most and works great!

I knew they had one in Vegas, but I thought that was it. Bummer man, I didn't see that on FB. Would've been cool to hang out or go wheelin!
