Mod Order Advice, I cannot make up my mind!

So I want to invest my tax return in something that I will get many years of enjoyment out of, my 4runner. First off I will have about 2k to put into the truck. Below are the things I would like to do, like I said I am just not sure of the order.

Lift – 3 inch, was looking at OME or Toytec Ultimate. I plan on doing some light wheeling, nothing to extreme mostly overland stuff maybe a trip to GW national forest and red cloud. I camp and climb and just want to be able to get places no problem.

Wheels/tires – if lift then this

Full Length Rack from Drabbits – My friends and I bike, we travel to get to new routes. I am also going to be getting a MTB this spring and plan on taking both bikes on road trips. I would like to have enough room to carry 4 people and 4 bikes. I also camp, climb and ski/snowboard. I have Yakima accessories that fit the provided crossbars

OR

Stock Crossbars – I would then have to purchase new carriers for bikes and skis

Hitch Carrier – Only really feasible for two bikes….

Thank you all for reading and advice, I just keep flip flopping between the storage utility and the lift. Like I said I will be getting it all eventually just not sure what you do first. Right now I am leaning toward lift just for the simple fact that lifted 4runners are BAD@SS!

Also open to any alternative suggestions.

I would use a little of that money to pay an accountant to figure out why in the hell you are loaning the government interest free money

then a lift and tires

But

if you bike all the time I would make provisions to support that first
 
because people like big shiny stuff (ie: big return) compared to a little extra per paycheck.

Take all that stuff you want to do above (Lift, tires, wheels, rack) forget about it, take that tax return and go buy you a decent mountain bike for around $5K. That's about how much that other stuff will cost. Then put that bike in your 4Runner, leave everyone else behind and go ride. You can always make new friends. You can never get back that ride you missed because you are carting a bunch of slackers around that won't get their own transportation.

If you don't want to do that then follow the 10 mods in my signature and be boring. Just kidding, sorta.
 
-it's not a "tax return," it's YOUR MONEY you're keeping from yourself. You need to get with an accountant and re-adjust your deductions because you're overpaying taxes and giving the government interest free money over the fiscal year.

-mod once, mod right. If you want to lift, don't get a spacer lift because as your needs change, you will buy again and waste installation money. Also get UCAs with your lift, lifting over 1" will make it harder, if not completely possible, to properly align your front end.

-if you plan on getting a bumper, get stiffer springs, or you will get sag.

-be aware that a more expensive lift will often not change your ride quality, while cheaper lifts may make your truck feel stiff and bouncy over the stock suspension.

-I'd spend the money on some AR's and a 1911.
 
I wouldn't lift it if you don't plan on doing any serious offroading, esp if you still plan on carrying the bikes on the roof. It'll just be a pain getting them up and down there.

If you get the lift / tires then invest in a hitch rack, then I would think you'd eventually need to get a hitch rack for the convenience.
 
I much prefer hitch racks for mountain bikes as it's a pain to get some bikes on the roof. We use North Shore racks for when we pack four.

I've spent way more money on bikes than I have in upgrading the 4R. I know where my priorities are.
