Modification Ideas Needed!

I am new to the 4Runner world - just purchased my 2000 Limited 2wd (pics included) about 5 months ago. It is SUPER clean and has been very well taken care of. I have noticed certain hints that lead me to believe the previous owner used the dealership for all maintenance needs. Before I get too far into my questions, I should note that this is my daily driver and that I have a wife, two kids, a dog, a mortgage, two car payments - you get the idea. Whatever goodies I add to this thing, I'll need to a) save up for them, and b) be very conservative when it comes to cost. My monetary priorities prevent me from going wild. Below are the mods I'm thinking about. Any help from the experts would be GREATLY appreciated. Do you like what I have planned? Do you have any additional ideas?

1) Push bar or brush guard. Preferrably with lights. Any ideas on what to use and prices? I'd like to have a bolt-on solution that doesn't require any cutting on the front end.
2) Lift kit? Not sure that I want to do anything. With the extra Limited body work and integrated steps, I'm worried that not matter how much of a lift I put on it, I might not be able to cram much larger tires in the wheel wells without doing some cutting. And I want to avoid that at all cost. Am I worried about nothing, or is that a valid concern? How large do you think I could go on tires without doing anything at all? That leads me to my next mod...
3) Wheels/tires. I LOVE the look of the stock wheels and it would take a lot to convince me to put something else on it. I do a lot of duck hunting and camping, though, so I need some rubber that's substantial enough to get me down muddy dirt roads. That's probably the extent of off-roading that I'll do. So should I just throw on some BFG A/T's and be done with it? Please refer back to my concerns under #2 when answering.
4) A locking diff - preferrably automatic. Muddy dirt roads and a 2wd don't always mix. Any ideas on which one to use and cost?
5) A cargo rack for the roof. Something cool. Ideas?
6) Cold air intake - possibly a bolt-on by K&N?
7) Performance muffler - Cherrybomb Vortex or Magnaflow?

My DREAM is to keep this thing on the road and in good enough shape to hand the keys to my 9 year old son when he turns 16. May be a pipedream, but we'll see...

See sticky at top of 3rd gen section for all the different lift options. Also Check out ChildrenOfBodoms (COB's) 4Runner. He has one of the best looking and most functional 2wd's out there. That will answer all your questions. IT can be done and it is worth it. Auto/full time lockers you can do an Aussie or a Lock-Rite both are in the $300 range and a couple hours in the driveway to install.
