Sunday, Feb. 16 - Going to the Mojave Preserve Cima Lava Tubes and other places in the preserve.
Anyone interested meet us at the Kelso Depot then go to the lava tube and down into the cave with me and my son. My wife is staying on top. After that, join in on the other parts or go to the campgrounds nearby or whatever. Here is my plan:

200 Miles from OC to the Depot, then 15 miles north toward Baker and 4.7 miles on Aiken Mine Road (dirt) to the Lava Tubes.
Arrive at the Depot about 1p and talk with ranger to check on danger of rattlesnakes coming out of hibernation.
Depending on time and ranger input, may go to the Aiken Cinder mine near the Lava Tube.
Due to distance, probably need to camp for the night nearby at Hole in the Wall or Mid Hills campground.
We are not set up for camping so we are going to take Morningstar Mine Road northeast through Cima ghost town and goto stateline NV and stay at Buffalo Bills.
Monday am leave, head toward Nipton, check out tent cabins at Nipton Hotel for possible future trip.
Take Ivanpah road south to Cedar Canyon Road West (good graded gravel roads). Stop at Rock Springs and the old stone cabin of Bert Smith. Continue to Black Canyon Road then a few miles to Hole in the Wall Campground and hike area to check out the rock formations.
South on Essex road to I40 and head home.
