Moog LCA ball joint questions

Hey fellas,

I installed the Moog BJs on the LCA back in Jan and noticed that the boot doesn't seem to cover the critical areas too well once the wheel droops down. This is happening on both lower BJs and I don't think this is defect, perhaps that's how the Moog operates? The boots simply lift away and exposes the greasy areas. Guess I can just pump fresh grease and push out the contaminated grease but it's a weird design. I'm used to the boots covering the greasy areas like the oem BJs do and not slide up on full droop.

Has anyone else experiencing this issue? Simply jack up your rig with the front cross member and let the wheels droop and see if you notice the same thing.

I guess this thread is more for informational purposes than to solve a specific issue. I just wanted to get some warm and fuzzy with these BJs with folks who have abused them properly. Meh.

That's cool, way better design! Finally.

I noticed with my original Moog lower balljoints, the boot could actually pop off if you pump just a little too much grease in there.

I'm not sure about the new design, granted the video looks nice. But, reality is that they'll allow contamination on full droop which bums me out.

Shoot I have a pair of the old designs ready to go onto my spare arms that I've been rebuilding. Time to see if I can exchange for new design.

The new double wall rubber internal dust boot looks much improved to me. OP, I think what has happened is you may have put a tad to much grease in and that is why a little seeped out. That is normal with any greasable joint and easy to do! Don't add any more grease.
I would wipe it away and keep an eye on it every week. If it returns wipe it away again. Then check in another week. If it does it continually over the span of 2-3 weeks then I would contact MOOG and see if they have a recommendation or solution for this problem.

You may have a point and if that's how easy it is to detach the rubber boot, we're in a world of hurt. Unfortunately, I can clearly see the shaft. Again, this doesn't happen when the vehicle is sitting on the tires, only during droop. So, for the most part, it should be fine but this is disappointing.

I'll take some better pics in more light the next time I go under there.
