Morimoto LED headlights & projector fogs

***EDIT*** IGNORE MY GRIPE ABOUT THE GLARE...see subsequent posts....

just wrapped up the install. Took about 2 hrs, would've been less had i not flipped the plug on the fogs when i installed it. oh well.

First, the main lights. I like the appearance, seems to have a good cutoff for the beam, but there's a lot of diffuse light. You can see it in the upper left in the pic. almost like there's an impurity in the lens.

As for the fogs... don't...f'king....bother.... seriously. They're crap. Less illumination than what i got with my stock housings running phillips LEDs. The mounting brackets weren't made properly either, they don't fit right and you have to shave them down for them to seat properly. How that passed QC is beyond me. anyway.

I may keep the main headlights... i think. If anything for the aesthetic, but it depends on how my trip goes this weekend. I could change my mind. Anyway, here's a few pics. will post more after the weekend. cheers.

That is awful. Tons of glare and an example why aftermarket lighting doesn't come close to meeting the requirements.
 
That cut off pissed me off. the jagged line you see on the wall has the same shape projected out and infront the rig!

They do match the fogs well and you'll need them. without, the side cutoff unclose leaves no light in unlit areas, without fogs one day you'll round the corner into a curb or worse a kid
They look great during the day though!

Ahh great minds!! I was actually thinking the same thing when i woke up this morning. Realized i was a bit hasty in my assessment. The glare was in fact bouncing off the other car. So now I'm less annoyed. If only the fog lights didn't suck so bad.

thats a killer cutoff for a prebuilt aftermarket setup, if your'e complaining about "the jagged line" go read up on projectors lol. Still not quite as nice as the projectors TRS sells for retrofit kits but this is zero effort for almost the same result. Plus, those housings look great.

Still awful unfortunately. Too bad that I seem the only one on the board who understands lighting and actually cares.
 
I don't understand the fogs. Yep the tabs are to big but still fit, at least in mine. The lighting is excellent when aimed proper.
Is it possible they are on the wrong side? Not sure that's possible but the adjusters should be facing the center of the rig
 
I had the XB fog light but returned them due to the fit and finish. I had over a 1/4'' gap between the bumper and light. Running Baja Designs squadrons now and very happy.

I also have Morimoto LEDs for high & low beam plus reverse lights. The highs work good, low beams are about the same as factory but reverse lights are terrible. My brake lights are brighter than the LED reverse light....
 
The housings that came with my XB fogs didn't fit very well on my '18 (had a gap), so all I did was swap them out with the stock housing. They fit perfectly after the swap.

I've seen a few vid's of people who are very happy with these new lights. Check out Wildman Zen, red T4R, in my home state. Loves 'em.
Tough call when you gotta spend $1k just to see if they fit your parameters. Then again, it's kind of like tires. I just switched on my new truck and I like them, but it could've cost me a ton just to find out they suck....for me anyway.
