Most stiff rear springs

RedStripeRanger For the weight you've listed, I would definitely go with the 899's. I run the 897's with about 600 pounds of expo weight and a trailer and run almost level. I purchased some airbags for when I tow, otherwise I think that spring rate is good with just expo weight.

I had read recently that LawnDart and some guy on IG (ten8rescue) were running a different rear spring but don't have any specs on it. id be interested in hearing about what they went with since they carry a lot of stuff all the time.

Custom length springs, but please keep in mind I'm running a long travel rear so it's not just about weight capacity but amount of lift. I need almost 4" of lift to avoid the rear from sagging, so if you put my spring setup in a mid-travel rear you'd have to basically bottom out a standard coilover or your rear end would be stink buggin'

Bring this one back around- trying to get some recommendations on rear springs. Currently running the Icon Stage-2 2" lift springs and the sag at full expo weight. Looking for a 3" lift that when loaded down will around 2" (leveling the rig).

Expo weight includes (roughly): 15-gallons of water, Autohome RTT, ARB Frig, Dogs (3 ~70lbs each), Tools, Camping Gear, Food/Beer, 2 people, MaxTrax, and 8-gallons of fuel to name just a few. I did a rough estimate of all this added weight and comes to just shy of 1200lbs.

When unloaded/daily driving the extra weight is about 600lbs.

My question- should I go with the OME 898s (440lb constant), 899 (880lb constant), or the Icon Overland Spring?

Thanks for the help!

Your running that much weight w/o a steel bumber?

Anyway, I have 899's and love how they perform

Other option would be custom

Thanks for the responses. And yeah when fully loaded I am running that much. And no bumper yet... but know I will have to revisit this when that happens.

Adding a little more detail, roughly 800lbs (people, dogs, water, autohome, fuel, Maxtrax, etc) are between the axels.

Not sure if that changes things a bit.

I'd second the above comment, with out running a steel rear bumper, you might be surprised on the exact weight you are running and I didn't realize you were counting the weight of people in the vehicle as well. You might be fine for example w/ 889's..curious to see what you end up with though..keep us posted

I'm really surprised to see how heavy of a rear coil you guys are running. You might be a good candidate for our 3" lift variable rate heavy load rear coil. It was designed for maximum travel, but also load carrying capability.

The C59-677V are designed for 3" lift on the 5th gen with 200-300KG of constant load (400-600LBS), but they're also a variable rate, so when they're not loaded down too much, they'll be running on the softer rate, and when you load them up, they become firmer.

Just throwing that out there as an option for you. We also have linear rate springs to match or exceed the OME weight capacities, in case someone needs heavier options.

Full app guide is here: https://www.dobinsonsprings.com/index.php/toyota-4x4-suspension?task=document.viewdoc&id=349

I'll finally be installing these tomorrow.. work and my MPH program have kept me busy. I'll take before and after measurements referencing the allpro coils I'm running now.

We also make coils for Level B7 Armored 5th Gens too, just in case anyone here gets a little too excited and adds 1000-1100KG of permanent weight to their vehicle and wants it to appear "stock".:rockon::rockon: ...zombies might still be coming, just saying.

MTN4RNR Max doesnt know what hes talking about haha

But in all honestly its what I should do. I am going to try and do it tomorrow after work. On a little bit of a time crunch with a Death Valley trip coming up at the end of March and I am out of town the weekend before.

Max might have to do the install for me.

Any truck stop with scales will let you weigh it for $10. I've done mine on a couple of trips when I was loaded to the gills and curious. Straddle the last 2 pads and you'll even get a front/rear weight sheet. It might be more helpful for you if you were to weigh it loaded and in daily driver mode.

Just got back from getting the rig weighed. Front axle - 3160lb Rear axle- 3415. Anyone have an idea what stock axle weights are for comparison?

I believe the GVWR for a 2014 Trail is 6300-lb, so you are overloaded. Definitely within the factor of safety if you are a decent driver who doesn't do any crazy wheeling, but it could be a liability issue if you get in a wreck.

Looks like the rear coil spring of my car has snapped. Gonna replace them. I have discovered some great reviews on this spring manufacturer . But I still want to know your experience.
Why are you paying for custom springs when so many OEM and aftermarket options are available? Wheeler, Old Man Emu, OEM, Icon, Dobinsons, etc. in all sorts of spring rates and heights. Do you have such a custom set-up that off-the-shelf springs won't work?

Super heavy 4th gen suspension needed

So I’m planning a lift/suspension redo and just weighed my fully loaded 2005 SR5 with RTT, water etc...weight was 6,140..... without wife and child. GVW for this rig supposed to be 5570
Hoping there is a way I can put something under her that will make this a safe overland rig; ideally with a 3” lift.
Thoughts?
Ran a similar build on my 1999 and ended up needing heaviest springs I could find + airbags.
Anyone running this much weight?
I leave this vehicle fully loaded year round as it is a dedicated home away from home/adventure rig on wheels. Never a daily driver.
Expertise much appreciated.
