The sleeping platform was great! It was the perfect length for me to sleep on without hanging over the edge of it. We had plenty of storage space, actually we had space that we didn't even use. I'm thinking about building an entirely new platform at this point though, one that weighs less. I'm considering using 8020 extruded aluminum for the frame and having carpeted plywood panels over it. That should cut the weight by about 70%. The only thing I need to figure out is how to reduce condensation inside on the windows. At some points it was so cold outside that we had frost on all the interior windows. I was thinking about making some insulated panels that fit over the windows to help with it, but not sure if that'll work.

Ah, gotcha. Guess I'll just pay the full price for NAPAs.
When installing those speakers, it's a PITA to get the stock one off the adapter plate. It's siliconed in, so I had to use a box knife and cut it apart. Them you're going to have to cut the stock speaker wires and splice in the new ones...then run to the tweeters. Not hard to do, just a little time consuming. Took me a few hours to do both sides. Well worth it though, they sound so much better, especially with a small sub.

I'm sure I'll take a full to do all four speakers. I'll be adding some sound dampening material as I install them, so that'll take some extra time. I was a little worried about getting the Prime speakers instead of the Punch. The Punch speakers are a lot better, but I feared I would need to run a small amp the get them sounding good and I didn't want to do that. I was considering getting a small 8" sub, but just don't have the room it. I really wish someone made a sub box like what I had in my jeep. There's a company called Select Increments that made a center counsel that housed an 8" sub and allowed for a small amp to be installed on the bottom. It bolted into the factory locations, gave you a small sub box, center counsel, cup holders, and only cost about $150. If I could find something like that for the runner I'd jump all over it.

You can set this under your seat. Its powered and sounds great. I have manual seat and it fits, and another member had power seats and it fit under his as well, although it was a little tighter.

I've turned mine around and cleaned up the wiring, but you get the picture...
It also comes with a wired remote, so you can adjust the amount of bass with each song if you need to...

That's awesome! I don't know how I've been missing that for the past 4 months. I was thinking about doing a custom fiberglass enclosure in the random rear storage compartment. That would have been a ton of work to build, and I've got enough going on as it is. I'm not looking for competition sound, so that might be the ticket. You said it sounds pretty good? This might sound stupid, but what about how it feels? I remember those stupid bass shakers that I put under my seats as a kid.

Under your seat, you can definitely feel it. Depending on how you set it, it can punch (I have mine set this way) or vibrate like crazy! There are times when a song comes on and the sub just shakes the whole seat, so I turn it down. There is enough space between the sub and bottom of the seat so they don't touch, which takes away most of the vibration. It's no different than having a sub in the cargo area.
I mounted the remote in one of the blanks in my console, so it's easy to get to...I'll take a pic later.

I'll just put it under the passenger seat. I'm always driving so I won't have to worry about it.

It may not fit under the passenger because of the heater vent...it wouldn't under mine at least. It would have to be set back, and into the foot area for the passenger. I honestly don't mind it under me, I've sat in the passenger seat and like it better when I'm above it.

Of course your rig looks great. Nice details and workmanship. I see hints of your dash throughout the thread but no real dash pics. Would u mind posting one up showing the silver trim? Did u do that yourself or what. I have the woodgrain and have been wanting to do something different and am looking for ideas. Thanks man. Keep up the good work.

The trim package on this was already the silver color. I can get some pictures this weekend when it might be warm enough to actually do something on it.

I've finally given up on waiting for good weather around here. That being said, I'll be working on the 4runner this weekend. Some of the projects I hope to get done are the following.
*Install new Yakima roof rack (got all the parts of eBay for under $100)
*Flexible LED light strips in sleeping area
*First part of my skip plate build
*LED under hood lights with a mercury on/off switch
I'll be sure to get some pictures up of the progress.

Was a busy weekend to say the least. Did some camping Friday night, 8 mile hike Saturday morning, and working 4R stuff the rest of the weekend. I was able to install my Yakima rack, and I'll get some pictures up later. The only other thing I got done was my skid plate. I've been eyeing the Savage Skids for a long time now, and I decided to make one.
This is what I was going for.
This was the template I made, and made some slight changes to it.
This is what I ended up with. Still need to drill some holes and smooth everything out.
I still need to do all the finishing touches on it, but it looks pretty good.
