I'm removing my running boards so that shouldn't be a problem anyway. Are you saying that the US 4R doesn't have the same holes as the Canadian version in the wheel wells to mount the flaps? If this is the case and I have to drill anyway then I may stick with the after market flaps. They are a bit longer, offering better protection.
I would still like to see pics of them installed from further back though.

No, these mudguards use the stock holes (US and Canadian are the same) but they have added (some) new screws to hold them on. I don't know how many could be only 1 or 2, but I am considering using 3m tape instead if possible - only where the new hole would be drilled.
So. most of the mounting points are already there. Look at the pics...the front one at the top has a new screw added. That might be the only one and you could put the 3m tape there if you don't want to drill.
The only concern is the US OEM running board which needs to be adjusted.
