Muffler

Hey guys,

First off, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone here as the season is already here.

Second, I would like to ask everyone here for their opinion about my muffler.
For some reason, the inside of the muffler has cracked and it's causing a huge vibration and noise every single time I stop at a light on drive. I have brought over to my mechanic and he told me to buy an OEM muffler and the two gasket associated with the muffler will run me about $470 = $610 including with labor.

I was thinking I would ask all of you if I should just do that, or buy an aftermarket or if if I should do the whole Catback exhaust including with header would do be cheaper?

Please provide me with some options if you could.

flowmaster 50 SUV weld-on would run you about $150ish welded up. That will be the cheapest way out that sounds good. What is your budget?

Approximately $200 installed. Do you know where to get it the part and installed for that price?
My mechanic charges $70/hr.

Ah your budget is $200? well I voted catback, but unless you can grab ahold of another hundred dollars, I would recommend a flowmaster or magnaflow muffler.

If you can get up to $300 you can get a nice gibson exhaust on ebay for about that price.

I suggest to go to a muffler shop.
I had my stock muffler replaced with a magnaflow, the pipes are the same size from the muffler back so replacing that doesn't need to be done
also have the resonator removed and it will sound great on the throttle but not to loud at idle

I forgot to add it just cost me 165.00

I voted for headers and all cuz its not my money hahaha. But seriously do whatever you budget will allow.

Off topic but whats this "activated hood scoop mod" you speak off?

P.S. Barrie's not too far from me, I looked at a few runners there before settling on mine from Newmarket.

The activated hood scoop means the plastic on the inside which is removed, that allows the engine compartment to have more air flowing into it.

But like Galactic_04 mentioned, I might just go buy a flowmaster 50 as it looks and sound stock.
I looked into the Magnaflow muffler, for a bit less on price, I might as well get the flowmaster?

In regards to money wise, I don't have much money right now, I'm a bit straped for cash so, $200 or $300 as much as I could afford.

I think he was saying that the flowmaster was $200, not his whole budget... take it to a muffler shop, not a Toyota mechanic. Especially if you find the part number you need and order that online for $90 and just have them cut and weld it... shouldn't be more than $70 for the work and $90ish for the muffler.

I think it's 2.25 center in, offset out

You may want the cat-back though if it's in the budget. I like the Gibson, but never have liked the sound of Maganflow much. I have only done weld-ons, but the cat-back could be different. If it's in the budget, go either way you're comfortable. do some searching on the board and find what you like and check youtube for videos of systems on v6 tacomas and 4runners (same dirveline).

Alrite guys,

I have decided to put off my research until now due to my crazy schedule.
I'm going to go see AL at Quick Muffler - 2834 Dufferin St 416-256-3040 The Flowmaster Sound is the true tone of American muscle and performance as the guy told me there are more options and better mufflers and/or cheap CAT Exhaust.
So we'll see what happens and I will let you guys know after this Saturday.

Alrite guys,

I have decided to get the cheaper version of the FlowMaster.

The shop recommended me to get a Flow-II from Different Trend. It sounds super sick and it has an increase HP/Torque.

I will do a video to show how it sounds at certain time.
